I was watching an old movie, The Insider and it occurred to me I've never met anybody in the tobacco industry.

I've had a 20 year professional career in a diverse set of industries. Decently traveled but never ran across one.

I guess being a tobacco executive isn't advertised very well.

It seems to be a very regionalized profession. I’m sure the posters from North Carolina do.

I went on a few dates late last year with a lady who worked for a tobacco company. She would go to all the different stores in her of her particular region, check inventory, make orders, set up promotionals, etc. I dunno what that position is called. She wasn't like delivery, had to dress nicely for work every day, had a company vehicle, and basically drove all day long.

In middle school, I had a friend whose parents both worked for Philip Morris, but I don't know what they did. His mom smoked like a chimney and the downstairs of their house smelled terrible. He was an only child and they'd converted the whole upstairs to basically a big suite for just him, so we only hung out up there.

I’ve met a few tobacco growers, some chemical salesmen who sell to growers and a crop insurance salesman who had several tobacco growers in his book of business, but I work in ag so it was bound to happen eventually

What would be cooler would be to work for the atf. All the alcohol, tobacco, and firearms you could ever want

I don’t know anyone in the corporate world that works for s tobacco company, but do know some farmers who grow it in the carolinas and Kentucky. It is a fascinating process. One time I happened upon a field i\of tobacco around rayville, LA as well.

I know a salesman who retired after 40 years.
Very wealthy.
He never smoked. Ever.

Talk about a merchant of death.

Big tobacco...if they don't kill you one way, they'll kill you another.

Phillip Morris owns zyn

They prefer you to use fake stuff like zyn because they can boil down the tobacco and distill the nicotine

Imagine if tobacco products were like a salad where the consumer expected the finished product to be pretty. The tobacco company would hate that

I mean, she isn't going around trying to sell it, just making sure her region has what it needs. Tobacco companies don't really NEED salesmen
