Great staff with young, bright minds. Bitch all you want about him as the Chargers head coach, but he is a good DC

I love that Schefter says that something is happening "per me" as if he is some how the originator of the information. How the frick is he his own source? Not...."sources inside the organization".....Schefter. As if the motherfricker hired the dude lol

Weird melt.

Great hire. IMO don’t have to worry about losing him in a year or two to a HC gig.

IMO same with Nussmeier as OC. Should have stability for a long while as long as they succeed.

How does our personnel match his scheme?

He’s a mostly 3-4/3-3-5 guy so it’s going to be an adjustment for sure.

Have to get a NT and add a LB or two.

I’m mixed on this. He had a great year with two all time defensive players and was horrendous while HC at LAC.

I think he’s a smart guy. We will see.

I don't Saints personnel matches any scheme. A bunch of 35 year old dudes are pretty much scheme resistant.

It is refreshing to see new hires outside of a Saints tree. Not getting excited just yet, but far more happy with this than retreads.

that's solid cause i'm not sure we have more than 3 guys at any position group anyways.

We don't even have 1 at NT.

Bresee might be better as a 3/4 DE than he is as a 3Tech so that's also good.

This is perfect timing for a scheme change. It will be easier to fit personnel to his system through the draft and player retention. Nose will be a plug and play from the draft, lots of options deep into draft that fit. Guys like cam and bresee can play end. We just need a couple of linebackers and a safety which would be an easier find with this scheme.

Nolen is more of a 3Tech/ 3-4 DE

Grant is definitely a Nose

Great hire. Doesn’t matter what we have run the last 10 years, the defense needs to be completely rebuilt. They need an olb/de and a nt and those two needs have to be the biggest needs on the team. It just so happens this is the best dline draft in over a decade.

One other thing. I could be wrong on this, but I think Staley heavily prioritizes Star position like LSU does, or something similar.

He likes a Safety that is all over the place, run coverage, blitzing, etc in that 3/3/5.

Safety is one of our weakest positions by far

He may be a shite HC but always thought he was a good DC. Moore has done a solid job with his staff.

Sounds tailor made for Taylor.

Like I said in another thread, it’s good to have a former head coach on staff for a first time head coach.

Agreed. After being in a depression the last two years about this team, it seems like the clouds are parting and the sun is starting to shine.

I wonder if scrambling quarterbacks will continue to give us problems.

One thing about the Dennis Allen defense is that it seem like the d-line would get up field. The quarterback could just step up take off for 15 or 20 yd if he wanted to.

That was still a problem even when the defense was playing a lot better under him. Before this year when the defense just fell off a cliff.

This is the current defense in a 3-4. We need starters at OLB, CB, S and depth at every position.

LDE: Cam Jordan/Isaiah Foskey
NT: Khalen Saunders/John Ridgeway
RDE: Bryan Bressee/Kristian Boyd
LOLB: Carl Granderson
LILB: Pete Werner/Jaylan Ford
RILB: Demario Davis/D'marco Jackson
ROLB: Anfernee Orji
CB1: Kool-Aid McKinstry
CB2: Alontae Taylor
NB: Rico Payton
SS: J.T. Gray
FS: Tyrann Mathieu/Jordan Howden
