Will this help them catch routine fly balls to center field now?

Yankees getting rid of decades-old facial hair policy in shocking move

TAMPA – The Boss must be spinning in his grave.

Hal Steinbrenner announced Friday morning that the Yankees are getting rid of their long-standing facial hair policy, moving to allow “well-groomed beards moving forward.”

“In recent weeks I have spoken to a large number of former and current Yankees — spanning several eras — to elicit their perspectives on our longstanding facial hair and grooming policy, and I appreciate their earnest and varied feedback,” Steinbrenner said in a statement. “These most recent conversations are an extension of ongoing internal dialogue that dates back several years. Ultimately the final decision rests with me, and after great consideration, we will be amending our expectations to allow our players and uniformed personnel to have well-groomed beards moving forward.

“It is the appropriate time to move beyond the familiar comfort of our former policy.”

Some players had pushed the limits of the policy in recent years, growing more than five o’clock shadows.

New closer Devin Williams did not seem thrilled about having to shave his beard off on the first day of workouts, keeping it until the last possible moment.

Maybe it will help their first basemen learn how to properly field a groundball

I wasn’t aware of the Don Mattingly haircut standoff back in the day. The Yankees are dumb

Did they make him shave it off, then almost immediately change the policy?

The Refs had a no facial hair policy for a long time

ETA. Oops! The Reds had a similar policy.

Dumb. Thought it was cool that Yankees had the old school look. It's like they would have fit right in had you put them in a 1930's photo next to Babe Ruth.

They're finally realizing it's 2025.

That said, George is probably spinning in his grave.

It's gay to have a well groomed beard? They are trying to prevent something as bad as Clayton Kershaw's beard/hair that was very 200,000 BC Caveman like
