Pope Francis Has Double Pneumonia, Vatican Says His Condition Is “Complex”

quote:
On Feb. 6, before he was hospitalized, he extended the term of the Italian cardinal Giovanni Battista Re as dean of the College of Cardinals, a role that will oversee some preparations for a potential conclave, the secretive gathering that determines the selection of a new pope. The move, which controversially sidestepped a scheduled vote on the next dean by top cardinals, was intended to ensure that the process plays out according to Francis’s wishes, the people said. Re, a longtime Vatican operator, is too old to participate in the conclave himself. Nevertheless, he will be a pivotal figure in the behind-closed-doors discussions that often take place before the conclave. That Francis selected him as dean instead of a younger candidate suggests he wanted to keep a friendly face in the role who would defend his legacy, said one of the people.
quote:
As his health has deteriorated over the last month, Francis has also moved to complete key initiatives and appoint sympathetic figures to key posts, following a progressive-tinted papacy marked by bitter ideological divisions. Since he became pope in 2013, Francis has aimed to make the Church more inclusive, opening up key roles to women and LGBT+ people. While that has provoked furious reaction from many conservatives, liberals complain that the reforms have been insufficient. Meanwhile, the pope’s efforts to put an end to rampant child abuse by clerics have produced mixed results.
quote:
According to two people familiar with the matter, Francis has been suffering from intense pain and has privately expressed certainty he won’t make it this time. On Sunday, doctors at Gemelli distressed the pope by barring him from delivering his regular morning Angelus sermon, which he has rarely missed, even when hospitalized, said one of the people and a third person. He is now acting entirely on “doctors’ orders,” said one of them.

I'm in the process of getting over "walking pneumonia.". That shite kicked my 63-year-old arse like nothing I've ever seen. Nearing the end of 3 weeks, and still coughing like a 3-pack-a-day smoker.
I can't imagine how the Pope is dealing with it. He's a lot older than me and not in the greatest health to begin with.

Wasn't there an old song: 'I got da double pneumonia and da boogie-woogie flu'.

Wouldn’t the same wokes that voted him in the first time just vote in another one just like him?

His condition is not "complex" it's "communism"

NAC
I use it for respiratory issues and definitely see a difference when I do.
Given your circumstances, you may what to consider looking into it yourself.

Double pneumonia huh? Must be a freaking miracle because the dude only has one lung.

Yep, NAC is definitely one of the best/affordable supplements out there, especially for lung/mucous production issues.

That's it. Hmmm, maybe that's what the Pope actually has come down with.

He’s gotten grossly fat since he became Pope. I saw a picture of him recently and was shocked, he looked like a different man completely

Let that MFer die
I simply pray that God’s will be done.
With that in mind, I also pray that Pope Francis resigns to recuperate from his illness so both he and the Church can heal from the sickness that ails them both.
I further pray that the next Pope actually promotes Catholic doctrine instead of woke ideologies.

Not sure. Some of those in the conclave have died or aged out (Cardinals are not allowed to participate in a conclave past age 80, I think). So the participants have probably changed somewhat.
Another factor is the ecclesiastic that speaks to the conclave prior to voting procedure. He outlines the challenges faced by the Church and the issues that need to be focused on by the next pope.

I cannot comment other than to say that I must abstain from commenting in this thread. My very soul may depend on leaving certain things unsaid.

From Wikipedia:
"Double pneumonia is a historical term for acute lung injury (ALI) or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, the term was, and, especially by lay people, still is used to denote pneumonia affecting both lungs. Accordingly, the term double pneumonia is more likely to be used to describe bilateral pneumonia than it is ALI or ARDS."
