How does this happen? They were swept at VMI, losing 14-8 in the finale. They were outscored 40-6 in the other 3 games, none of which went past 7 innings.

Last season they went 0-48. Their closest call was a 9-8 loss against FDU where they blew an 8-3 lead in the 8th. 2024 team ERA was 11.32. They gave up a whopping 78 dingers. They even had a pitcher manage to hit 20 batters in 30 innings of work.

Next up is Towson.

That’s actually pretty impressive for baseball

They suck…hard.

I do agree though, streaks like that seem purposeful, it seems as if it would take effort.

My ex-wife got her bachelor degree from that school. Not much there but it is a quick drive to Ocean City or Virginia Beach.

Pitching is atrocious. The hitting is bad, but nothing that would suggest they go winless. Hell, the two years prior they were 18-37 and 17-37, respectively, with close to a .500 record in conference play.

4500 student enrollment, 81% acceptance rate, boring campus, terrible athletics, zero noteworthy majors…how many universities like this actually exist across the country? Louisiana has 5-8 alone.

For the places they’re in they serve a purpose…

But all of them serve a purpose and are competing in some sports.

HBCU schools don't really have good baseball

Huh, learned something new today. I didn't know that was an HBCU.

That's part of the issue. The HBCU league they were in, the MEAC, folded as a baseball conference. So they have even fewer chances to accidentally run into a win here and there.

They just need more NIL funding.

I didn’t know that. It looks like only 4 MEAC schools played baseball, so they joined the NEC for that sport. You still get Coppin St, Norfolk St, and Delaware St. Plus you have schools like Lemoyne, Mercyhurst, and Stonehill that haven’t even been D1 but for a few years.

Also, their coach was previously at Iowa Lakes Community College, where he went 22-133 over 3 seasons. Their BEST coach had a .330 winning percentage.

Also, they play on “Field Six” at some athletic complex, as their home field is falling apart. I’m not sure how that happens in a 1,000 seat stadium.

There were a couple others prior to COVID. I think they had 6 teams. Enough for a full schedule. Maybe 8 even. FAMU and Bethune Cookman were there before they left for the SWAC. Then some schools dropped their programs around COVID.

For a long time Bethune Cookman was the only baseball team that was reasonable. After they left, Coppin State was the best of what was left. All them were garbage.

Seems like the only guy on the team that cares.

I bet Delgado, BRCC, and Nunez would beat these chumps.

Their opponents are all likely aware of the streak and don't want to be the team to lose to them, so ironically they always get their opponent's best effort.

Maybe but a team like that isn’t playing any powerhouses
