The deficit!!!

People amaze me when they say that the cuts that Trump is making is just a drop in the bucket. This is the reason we are in the shape we are in financially, people freely spending money that’s not theirs and with no real accountability. People who think this country can’t and won’t go off a financial cliff have the same mindset as the people who sailed on the titanic ( this ship is unsinkable).
These cuts also have in many ways destroyed the narrative preached by Democrats over the years sighting the need for more tax increases. You don’t need tax increases if you manage your money better. I’m not a millionaire or a billionaire but vilifying them just to have a billionaire audit the government’s books and show waste has been legendary.

how many years have people been saying.." The USA doesn't have a funding problem, the USA has a spending problem" ?

Put enough drops in the bucket and eventually the bucket gets full.

There is no sum of tax revenue that would ever satisfy these people. They would rather we all get anally probed by the IRS every year to make sure we didnt skimp on paying an extra few hundred than cut funding towards supporting tranny comic magazines in Peru or girls education in Pakistan
I hope these stupid fricks stay mad. 4 years from now they will campaign on how all of these "vital" programs got cut - every swing voter will know they never needed any of these feds to begin with

It's the same as the avocado toast mindset.
"Why exercise restraint and discipline with $20 when you're $100k in debt?"
It's the fiscal mindset of people who lived with their parents too long, and were protected from consequences, but at the federal scale.

It's that people hear millions, billions, and trillions but have no real concept of how much that is. A million seconds is 11 days, a billion seconds is 32 years, and a trillion seconds is a little over 31,000 years.
Now compare that to the $100 billion in fraud Doge has uncovered and things begin to feel more real.

4.7 trillion in untraced payments by the treasury isn’t insignificant. The fraud being exposed is on proportion to the biggest crime theft in history by magnitudes not comprehensible

It’s a drop in the bucket but they don’t realize it’s their money and they’ve been getting robbed by the people we pay to serve us.

I was told this advice when getting ready to start law school.
Applies to lots of things.

the need for more tax increases
However, regarding collections, the issue is revenue, not tax rates! Aside from the Laffer curve, higher tax rates can slow GDP growth.
The Trump tax cut effect in that regard got massacred with CV19. But Potatobrain revenue benefited. Now economists are back to the old game of intimating one-to-one tax increases to federal revenue increases are a given fact. They are referring to a 10yr extension of 2016 Trump Tax rates as a $4.5 trillion revenue loss.
It's just sad.

Boomers did this. I’m over simplifying but it’s true. They have no fiscal responsibility.

These bitches are scared to raise taxes the conventional way. Instead they print the frick out of money so they can tax all of your money including what’s already been taxed. It’s criminal.

When you’re spending other people’s money plus getting kickbacks, it’s easy to see why we are in the shape we are financially as a country.

A bit dramatic there Mr. Facts don't care about your feelings bro.
"DOGE" is not materially impacting anything....until you slash SS and Medicare you have accomplished nothing materially.
I know it is hard for your simpleton mind to handle but two things can be true at once.
DOGE is all theatre and making twitter headlines....why has Elon not cut any of his own subsidies? Hmmmmm.

We have got to get a handle on what the role of the government is and what we’re willing to pay for that.
At its core, the government’s role is to protect the citizens. Everything beyond that is questionable. People get mired in dissecting the meaning of “protect”.
I’m fairly certain that protecting the citizens does not mean exploring Mars. Yet that’s what people talk about when they get elected. How does that help keep us safe?
With a system like ours, the elected are expected to do something. Doing something means spending money on something. It means bringing money back home. That inserts a constant friction between getting elected and fiscal restraint. Electing someone to NOT spend is a recipe for failure afterall.
Unfortunately the music is going to stop at some point. That point is nearing.
I’m reminded of the saying-
“Don’t just do something- stand there”

Seems to me the wealthiest man in the world should be more than qualified to audit the govts finances.

SS needs to get reformed into a 401k style program. It’s a Ponzi scheme the way it’s currently set up, and pays out dog shite. Way to many people rely on it to pay for their retirement when it pays out relative peanuts
And also, go frick yourself. Probably a liberal fig given your from Virginia

The amount of people who make the drop in the bucket comment amaze me. Hey retard, many small cuts equal big cuts.
"but what about the people losing jobs that aren't useless or programs that are good, like the poor disabled puppy shelter?!?!"
Hey man, sometimes the house can't be fixed and you have to bulldoze it and rebuild. Trump doesn't have time to go line by line. This country is a disaster. If anything, DOGE needs to ramp it up. Which is coming.
