A shark bit the hands off a woman along the shore of a Caribbean beach while she was trying to take a picture with it.
The 55-year-old woman, who is understood to be Canadian, had only strayed a few yards into the water when she was attacked on Friday, February 7.
According to the local authorities she “attempted to engage” with the shark when the 1.83m-long predatory fish struck off Thompson Cove Beach in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
It is understood she had one of her arms amputated below the wrist and the other halfway up her forearm. She has since returned to Canada for further treatment.

But did she get the selfie to post?

Hands are worth likes and shares for millennials

I'd say she managed to engage successfully.

A 55 year old millennial?

Being Canadian, she’s probably not familiar with saltwater species. May have mistaken the shark for a cute little bottle nosed dolphin!

Good, to heck with dumb people.

What an obtuse way of saying she lost her hand.

This story is quite nubby honestly

A Bull Shark is nothing to mess around with.

Excellent first post, mate

This is not the natural habitat of a Canadian.
Add in the fact it was a woman, aged 55 years trying to take a selfie, and things were probably not going to end well even without adding a shark.
Once the shark was added, then a tragedy was inevitable.

The A.I. Version of the shark may have been a better choice in this case.
