Tearing my yard up. Must have several working it because there is no way one mole is doing this much damage each night. What have you personally used that actually works?

He has the correct answer. Juicy Fruit… Roll up Juicy Fruit gum. Poke a hole in the tunnels and drop in. They can’t pass it.

Years ago I had a mole problem and I used a Victor mole trap. Smash tunnel gently with foot, put trap in place, mole gets spiked when he tries to repair tunnel. Worked like a charm for me and I haven’t had an issue since.

This is the answer. Be sure to trap the long, straight paths as those get reused while the feeding paths may not get reused.
My neighbors use the pros who use co2 or water to flood tunnels. This mostly works, but not as good as traps. It also often just makes it someone else’s problem. They just don’t have the time to make multiple visits for a successful spike trapping campaign.

Look for ground movement at dawn and dusk. Dig up mole and stomp the crap out of it. I have tried EVERYTHING to no avail except stomping them to death.

Can't we just get along with nature?

We have used the traps too. But this poison works too.

I used the traps to no avail and then used the poisonous worms. Seems like they died or at least slowed down a bit, but I moved a few months later so couldn’t confirm long term.

This time of year is perfect for eradicating them as the grass is not growing and it's easy to see the tunnels. I start by stomping down all of the existing tunnels and go ahead with my day. Whenever I'm passing by and see fresh earth, usually in the morning after dropping the kids off at school, I stop and look at the end of the tunnel for about 10-20 seconds. If the dirt starts moving up and down, I know the mole is there. I'll grab a shovel, wait for the dirt to move again and then scoop him up. I've had a 100% success rate doing it this way and zero results with the trap. I spend less than a minute a day doing this when the moles are active. Last time I did it I killed four in about a month. I haven't seen any signs since. It's very rewarding to kill those SOBs

My cat brought me one this morning. He's a better hunter than me.

I found years ago that applying Talstar not only kills the fire ants in my yard, but also the grub worms in my yard…the main food source for the mole. Then the moles would just go somewhere else…win-win.

These little fricks have their place in nature, just not in my yard. Below are really the only two traps you will need. The GopherHawk is handy because you don't have to dig in your yard but it isn't as reliable as Trapline is. Trapline mole traps are awesome.

Trapline

Is anyone else here old enough, or cultured enough, to remember Jerry Clower and the rat killing?

Sounds like all you need is a car and a garden hose.

I have always found the poison gas methods to be most effective. Available at tractor supply.
