It's fantastic pizza. My favorite pizza in the city, mind you I haven't had Forbidden yet.
Happy for them!

Friends,
Those saying Il Supremo > Forbidden, I think are correct. The pizza and service and atmosphere are all better. Il Supremo is also significantly cheaper, with a 20" plain costing $18 compared to the $26 at Forbidden, which puts Forbidden in the middle of the pack of elite pizzeria pricing in NYC.
Dave Portnoy concluded his Super Bowl visit to New Orleans with the city's best pizzeria, Il Supremo. He seems surprised that New Orleans has an established Italian pizzeria-restaurant scene. I will argue unto death that New Orleans Italian food has always been the epicenter of Italian cuisine in America and its best is better than the best of Chicago and San Francisco. On a bad day, New Orleans Italian food is equivalent to New York's, that is how highly I perceive New Orleans Italian food. It was only a matter of time for New Orleans pizza to rebound into the elite range, putting it on par with Portland and Chicago in the pizza world.I hope Portnoy's reviews will compel the rest of the nation to give us our due credit.
It was our resident pizza Epicure, toof, who put me on Il Supremo back in the summer. And since that time, I cannot get enough. Eating Il Supremo transports me to eating in NY. Unlike a few of the other gourmet slice shop newcomers to our area, which taste like carbon copies of other NY pizzerias, Il Supremo is crafting something new and wonderful. It is the first and only Louisiana pizzeria to reach the 9s in my rankings. In fact, it is only the third American pizza outside the NJ-NY-CT pizza corridor to achieve above a 9 for me -- the others being Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland, OR (9.10) and Deluca in Hot Springs, AR (9.61).
Il Supremo is worthy of every accolade it will be receiving this year. My only regret is that it is no longer our little secret on The Food Board, and it will be very difficult to get a pizza there in the coming months. And since neither Mother nor I has made a good contact at Il Supremo, it may be some time before we get to delight in its pizza and garlic knots.
If someone asked me for the two New Orleans pizzerias a visitor must try, I would suggest Il Supremo and Tower of Pizza. Il Supremo because it is the best tasting. Tower of Pizza because it best embodies what New Orleans pizza has historically been. Also the atmosphere and salads at Tower, both of which I have written about at length over the years, are unbeatable.
Here are my ratings next to Dave Portnoy ratings:
Il Supremo 9.22 / 8.2
St. Pizza 8.87 / 7.8
Tower of Pizza 7.19 / 7.5
Forbidden Pizza 7.10 / 8.3
Zee's 7.00 / 7.8
Venezia 6.88 / did not try
Margot’s 6.86 / did not try
Paladar 511 6.85 / did not try
Mid City Pizza 6.77 / did not try
Pizza Delicious 6.53 / 7.8
Non top ten pizza comparisons
New Orleans Pizza Company 6.23 / 7.4
Gio's 5.84 / 7.6
That's Amore 4.82 / 7.4

interesting. Maybe i missed it, but i follow most of the pizza threads on this board and have been following Ill Supremo for a while, and i don’t remember you writing about it until you dropped your top 10 as Portnoy was releasing his New Orleans pizza visit videos. If you have been onto this pizza f dating back to the summer, why haven’t you mentioned it before this week?

Friend,
Here is my first mention of Il Supremo, back in August in response to toof’s Il Supremo photo. I have mentioned it several times since. And each time I return I am even more impressed! I have tried every pizza they serve and cannot say enough positive about their plain and buratta.
LINK I think it was toof who introduced most of us to Il Supremo and for that we should all be grateful.

Never had Forbidden. But as I mentioned in the stop 7 thread. He wouldn’t rank Supremo higher after going all in on Forbidden.

I would book a pizza tour with toof as my guide

His tours are pretty good but he offered to buy my toe nail clippings after which I found odd. Unfortunately it still wasn’t enough to buy a slice from St. Pizza

Would you please stop contributing to the pizza threads? We all know, numerous times over, that you created a plagiarized "pizza list" of your own.
Mother would be very dissapointed in your repeated attempts to get noticed. Vanity is one of the deadly sins.

Hey look. TLSU is making this all about him. I’m shocked.
You ripped off the whole ranking pizza, snowballs, chicken sandwhich, New Orleans best… etc etc from Portnoy.
I’ve said before. If you wrote as a fan of opinion you’d be a great writer.
But you’re so arrogant. You come off as the friend in the group who is always right and knows everything. I loathe your writing style.
You’re not Tom Fitzmorris. He was also a talented schmuck who talked down to people.

You told TLSU about a good pizza joint.
So he wrote a column in the shadow of Portnoy.
And Gyno was mocking you while kissing his ring.

Ok
Can’t control any of that
I report what I like here and it goes where it goes

So much for the 8.3/8.4 rumors
Regardless, can't wait to try Forbidden and Il Supremo
