The annual budget for USAID is only $40B, it’s a drop in the bucket!

You’ve heard this argument. It’s used to criticize the audit of USAID as being not worthy of attention.

Besides the fact that audits are coming for all the other departments, maybe we should put this number in perspective.

Total annual expenditures for the following departments:

Entire Judicial Branch of Government - $9 billion

Entire Federal Bureau of Prisons - $8.3 billion

Corp of Civil Engineers - $7 billion

NASA - $25 billion

State Department (all embassies) - $35 billion

Dept of Education - $275 billion

Veterans Affairs - $364 billion

Department of Defense - $845 billion

Health and Human Services - $1.8 trillion

So yes, there are much much bigger spenders, and areas of greater waste fraud and corruption in terms of real dollars… BUT!

$40 Billion is A LOT of money.

4 times what we spend on the Judicial Branch or on all federal prisons!!

It doesn't matter. All gas and no brakes. Let the haters hate.

Catering them never worked, and will never work.

I appreciate the perspective on this.

Health and Human Services - $1.8 trillion

I would be shocked if there isn't a trillion+ dollars in waste and fraud sitting in these

Alabama says "hold my beer". Just spent over 1 billion on one prison, and yesterday authorized borrowing another 500 million for prisons.

exactly. its not like they're going to find a line item for something that cost $2.5 trillion they can nix.

thats not how this works gif

trust me, $40 billion here, $20 billion there..this will add up to 1T alot faster than you think.

It may be only 1% but it’s the bag money for All of the Tomfoolery around the world and domestic. It’s the head of the Snake. See: Mike Benz

And every drop we remove from that bucket will eventually empty it to acceptable levels. This is how trimming a budget works. This is one of the most idiotic arguments the left keeps making

The United States President Donald J Trump, has asked for DOGE to audit each and every agency under the executive branch. To modernize the systems being used. As they are doing so they are finding egregious misuse of the funds.

It is the Presidents responsibility to root out waste, abuse, corruption and fraud.

None of the other noise matters.

It's going to be wild when we realize we can run the entire government on like 800 billion.

The deal with USAID is that its how they cheat at elections and enrich themselves.

That's why you don't see the supposed recipients of USAID funds griping - its Dem politicians and black church leaders.

The ugly truth is that Dems have funneled money to black churches for years to get those congregations on board.

But think of what good 40 billion could do if properly applied.
We've got to get our deficit under control first though.
