Please familiarize yourself a bit with Trump's well known history of setting the stage to get people to come to the bargaining table.
Israel and Hamas are both content to keep the fight going. So what's one thing that neither of them want to see? Well, that would be a permanent US presence in the strip. What Trump is doing, is called establishing leverage. Let it play out. This is bigger than what we see on the surface.
