A few other has mentioned/seen this lately in the last few games, but the Pelicans are purposefully playing 2 big men with Zion and having Zion play in the backcourt for a reason.

Perhaps once in a blue moon the Pelicans execute some foresight in preparation of grabbing Harper/Flagg/Bailey and is gathering data points on Zion at the 2. Why you ask? Well its pretty easy to see at this point:

-Zion doesn't rebound well at all due to lack of height of the prototypical NBA backcourt.

-Zion's penetration skills and point zion skillset serves better from the backcourt surround by wings who can create and shoot from the 3 at a good clip. This also allows point zion to be executed at any time throughout a game.

-Trey Murphy emerging as THAT guy locks you into one forward position and barring a bad scenario, your incoming rookie has a 66% chance of being another tall forward.

-Finally, this will also take wear off of Zion's body as he's not down below fighting with people taller than him, reducing the amount of jumping per game which will also help the hams and knees tremendously.

Karlo is our tank commander. Playing him counteracts Zion's good nights.

I've seen so many guys, players, say that Zion is/should be a SG. He's just a bigger Anthony Edwards that doesn't shoot 3s. SG or SF, the title doesn't matter. He's just not a big. He has to lose about 50lbs though, cause he's not chasing guards at 280lbs..

But he can drive, pass, and create at the basket.

Teams can’t triple him if you have two wings who can also drive, shoot the three, and create a basket.

He has a good stroke. We've all seen he have hot streaks. It's something he should have developed a long time ago.

Yeah I think if you had a 4 & 5 that can stretch out and shoot it, it may be pretty fun to see. I guess it just depends how lucky we get in the draft.

Is this a joke? He can’t shoot and can’t guard opposing wings.

He was guarding Edwards when we played the Wolves. He got cooked, but was still out there on him. That's why I'm saying he needs to lose a lot of weight to keep up with him.

On the contrary, his best chance at losing 50lbs might be chasing around guards

only the pels-friendly press say this. in reality his shot is ugly (no arc) and ineffective. it's a win for the defense if Z shoots a jumper, even short ones.

Oh look, it's another thread where we try to explain away Zion being a lazy a-hole by saying he would finally reach his potential if he plays another position.

It’s due to not giving a shite.
He out jumps and out muscles everyone in the league. He could average 10+ easily if he wanted to.

He’s the heaviest strongest dude in the league.

What does this have to do with reducing the amount of jumps per game?
