Dillas need water. Figure out their water source then figure out the path. They walk along walls or fences or hedge lines. Place your trap in line and those dumbasses will walk right in.
I tried for years to bait traps and could never get em. Old timer told me figure out where they walk. Boom, caught em all.

Something, something about killing their food source of probably slugs, but...
Shooting an armadillo with a 22 subsonic is surprisingly gratifying. And depending how close your neighbors are, a very nice surge of adrenaline.
I kinda miss them since the 2023 drought.
Mine were coming out shortly after dark, and they could also be spotted just before daylight, as those hours were most convenient for me.

Use a small live animal trap such as those available at Tractor Supply for around $30. Place the trap along a wall and use a board staked into the ground a short distance away from the house wall to create a quasi funnel to steer them into the trap. Once you trap and kill one leave it's blood on the trap frame after you remove it. It helps to attract others in your yard to the trap. If you don't want to kill it once you trap one, just use the trap to carry it quite a distance away to a wilderness area for releasing it.
You can also use moth balls layed out in the spots you observe them digging in and their smell drives them away to your neighbors yard!

What are you putting in the trap to catch him. I have one and have used it to catch coons many times and use a small can of cat food..
What to bait up a dillo?

dillos don't take bait. they just walk right in. just have to find their path...

They don't respond to baits in the trap. Only thing that I found helps to lure one into a trap is leaving blood splatters on the cage frame after shooting a traped armadillo. The armwdillo blood scent seems to attract others for a while.

Here ya go.
Build your own trap. My brother caught one in a wire live catch trap and the armadillo wrecked his trap.

This wooden style of trap works very well. I’ve built two and caught a bunch of armadillos and possums. Plus one turtle. Much better than the wire cage trap I tried first .

I have an old cheap savage 22 my grandpa got free with car back in the 40s or 50s that has a very high armadillo count.

Or flip the shell over a fire, and put the meat in it.
