Are you surprised? This is pretty on point for James Gunn's aesthetics

I’m not surprised but disappointed he’s trying to make DC movies in the same aesthetic as the marvel children’s movies

He's way past that and into kiddie, cartoony aesthetics.

Even the OG Superman movies were much less "bright" in visual tone.

You're mad that he's making comic book movies for children? Were you mad at the comic book writers for making the comic books for children?

Never happy.

The movie Superman is too dark.

The movie Superman is too childish.

Chris Reeve is the standard, yet he had Ned Beatty as a skimmer hat wearing cartoon villain and Richard Pryor at his over-the-top low point.

It's a joke tweet. No more, no less. It ain't the focal point of the marketing campaign.

This visual tone is EXACTLY what a Superman movie should look like and I have argued that for years.

A Superman movie needs to be bright and sunshine aesthetics

The stuff like Krypto is... a bit much

Comic books were almost never made for children. I don't think stories about kids having their parents murdered only to go around being violent vigilantes were meant for kids.

None of the themes were for kids, and while they may have been hokie, they were meant for adolescents and adults.

That said, Gunn is overrated as hell, and this likely will be a mediocre at best iteration of Supernan. His shtick worked for a fairly unknown group like GOTG as an ensemble, but he has never proven he came make a film focused on a main antagonist.

I know the Superman people keep saying this, and I'm not personally invested.

I don't know if people want to revert back to 80s/90s era, pre-X-Men, superhero movie style. I think it hurts them at the box office (But I have been wrong before).

There is a reason that comic movies started succeeding following X-Men toning down the "comic book" aesthetics (like not having them in comic-appropriate attire), and why it took a comedy like Deadpool 3 for Logan to finally wear that yellow/blue 90s Wolverine outfit.

Now, have some gone too far? Sure. I still like MOS but I understand why the Superman people don't, for example. And that was nothing compared to the rest of the DC output. I just think this may be swinging way too far back into the cartoony/kiddie territory of past failures.

I never really cared for the way Kirk Alyn turned into an animated cartoon when he took flight. Hence, I preferred Columbia's take on the other DC properties like "Congo Bill" and "The Vigilante."

Have they? Or have certain directors decided to actually tap in to what the audience wants? The biggest criticism of the Singer X-Men was that they were all in black and not representing their comic book looks.

Audiences haven't changed. Studios are just finally realizing their pretentiousness and cowardice was being forced upon the audiences

There are few crimes that deserve a punishment that severe.

I don't know, but we will see.

Also, I can definitely see the Superman people getting mad when he's turned into a joke.

No, Superman is not supposed to be dark at all. Like even remotely.

He is not Batman.

Superman is sunshine. He is bright colors, he is red white and blue, he is truth, justice and the American way.

He is everything great and noble we see in ourselves and in our nation.
