"Lee" starring Kate Winslet

(I searched and yes there was another thread, but it was short and mostly talked about Winslet's titties)
Lee is about WWII photographer Lee Miller, a former model and photographer for British Vogue magazine. Kate Winslet's passion project that she says she started about 10 years ago. She was among the first photographers to record the use of napalm, was in the first group to enter Dachau, and also famously took a bath in Hitler's bathtub in his Munich apartment the day he committed suicide.
All that being said, this is a very good movie. Winslet is sublime as usual. (I put her up with Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jodie Foster, etc. as an actress). The story is very compelling. Even though there are scenes where she's told "No" because she's a woman (it was the 1940s after all), I don't think it's a "I am woman hear me roar" fantasy land picture. The movie covers her love life (Alexander Skarsgard plays her love interest). The movie also shows her PTSD and how she handled it, although you aren't knocked over the head with it. Andy Samberg ( yes, THAT Andy Samberg) does an admirable job as Davy Sherman, a photojournalist for LIFE Magazine, who was very important to her in her time in theater (there is a not subtle suggestion that Sherman had a thing for Miller and suffered in silence. I don't know if that's true or not. It seems like a plot device to me
)
As I said, Winslet is her usual incredible self in this movie, and she probably deserved a Best Actress nomination, It is worth a watch.
And yes. She does show dem titties, which I think are pretty nice for a near 50 year old woman. I also think Winslet is one of the most beautiful women in film. Fight me.

I've always thought Kate was a great actress, and she likes to get naked to put icing on the cake. Will check this one out.

I just wanted to compliment you on your textbook-perfect post according to TD standards.
1. The post starts by mentioning titties.
2. The post contains two pictures of nekkid women (but which are SFW-enough to avoid getting banned).
3. The post ends by mentioning titties.

Years ago she said she'd never nude up again (her titties had gotten pretty bad, ahem " The Reader") but I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks. This is her thing.

Watched it this evening based on your recommendation. Agree that it was a well
done film that told an interesting story. The issue of sexism was dealt with in context and not overkill.
Re the photograph in your post, in reading the wiki on her after the movie, the boots in the photograph still had the mud on them from the camps she had photographed that morning.

Everyone had a thing for Lee Miller. She was a freak & her dad was a pic taking pedo. She was great at what she did & fearless.
I've been hesitant to watch. I doubt they keep it too real.

OK I watched it because of this thread as well. Fantastic. A story well-deserving of a movie. Between this and Number 24, I watched two really good WWII movies this week. It's crazy how many stories there still are to be told, 80 years later.
The movie recreates a lot of the situations as described in this three-part article on Lee Miller: nationalww2museum.org/war/articles/lee-miller-women-war
The end credits are great, they show many actual photographs from the events in the movie. Most surprisingly, in the first few minutes of the movie, Kate/Lee sits down at an outdoor lunch with her friends (a few men and women), who are already seated, and she promptly whips her top off. One other woman at the table already has her top off. During the end credits, someone had taken a picture of this lunch (obviously the inspiration for the movie scene), but in the real event, three women had their tops off, so we got short-changed in the movie.

Lee (2023) on hulu
The Forger (2022) on JustWatch is another good WWII era movie. According to JustWatch, t's on FUBU and Paramount.

Kate has been my Hollywood crush since Eternal Sunshine.

I googled Kate Winslet nudes and those tittays aren’t what they used to be.

my wife and i watched some movie with her and that red head irish chick and were not expecting a full on lesbian scene with gratuitous nudity but we got it.
while i like the female form, i don't tend to linger on those ones with the Mrs. and i felt like this one lasted for 30 minutes.

What would you say about a man that slept with quite a few women? Do they get the same treatment, or is that perfectly fine?

It didn’t really cover her relationship with Man Ray and the surrealists. That whole movement was full of weirdos and pedos who if they weren’t toeing the line were definitely crossing the line for the sake of art.

She was very good in "Holy Smoke" with Harvy Keitel.
And I know she got a little tubby at times but I have always had mad respect for her cans. She was a very sexy chick most of the time
Hated her in Reservation Road
