I'd cry if any of them are traded away

Yes they’ve done so much to warrant untouchability
Posted on 2/6/25 at 2:31 pm to yaboidarrell
only scooby is untouchable

Jose is a fun guy to have on your team because he's a dude that has no business being in the NBA, but was scrappy enough to squeeze out every possible drip of potential to reach this point. A very easy guy to root for and it will be a sad day whenever he is no longer in New Orleans.
...but he's not untouchable.

2 of those guys just found out that one of their best friends got traded last night. Enjoy them while you can.

Agreed,
Got em all the same year too which is insane

The single draft that saved this regime's career.

Arguably they have done more than the "stars" of the franchise.

We don't have ANY "untouchables".
Trey: Would be the closest.
Herb: If trades and draft go perfectly...and IF Herb shows solid improvement offensively next year...he would be as close as Trey is...maybe even closer.
Jose: No offense...but not even worth discussing

Honestly all of them are available for the right price. Someone wants to give us a Kevin Durant level trade package for Trey then sure I’ll take it.
If I can get a 1st for Jose I’m taking it. He’s a 26 year old 5’10 backup PG.

I get the sentiment but there is nobody on this roster that’s not replaceable. Pels are currently a dumpster fire; better teams have been scrapped for parts value and started over
a tax team (up until yesterday) with a bottom 5 record…how it could be worse I’ve no idea

No one is truly untouchable, but all three of those have to be close. Herb and Jose are such good values that it’s hard to imagine getting something for them that justifies letting them go while under team friendly deals.

Ironically your sentence perfectly justifies why they would be traded.... Trading players on "team friendly deals" before you can't afford them or they walk for free is exactly why you do that. Ita also when their value is the highest.
I'm not saying we will or that its the best move but if the other options are not being able to afford them or walk for free then....

We have talked so much about holding onto our star players for too long and trading them at low value but yall want to keep our role players until they die and no assets are worth a trade even if their value is the highest?
Not arguing to keep/ trade them but none of that makes sense. This is not the way.
I'll start using the word "untouchable" when we actually win a playoff series.... Yeah not a championship, a playoff series.....

Yep. I love herb and Jose. They’re on great contract. They’re both 26 and only have 2 years left on their deals. I would move them this summer if the offer is right.
This is not going to be some quick retooling. Even if we land Flagg, we are going to suck next year. Dejounte is out for most if not all of next year, Zion will inevitably miss games, CJ will be 34 and will probably decline a little.
There are much better teams than our that are struggling to make the play in. This team is probably at best a 12 seed next year.

Like I said, no one is untouchable, but Herb and Jose don’t cost much and generally deliver a lot in their roles. I would want obvious “we win the trade” value to deal them.

The problem is that this will never happen because of how much our fans overrate them as fan favorites... They will probably never be worth what fans think is "enough" to get rid of them.
As a fanbase some need to accept that it is a losing situation. Either they will walk for nothing after their contract and fans will bitch/ cry that we got nothing for them. Or we will do the right thing and gain assets from them, which fans will bitch that whatever it is "isn't enough".
You are essentially just deciding what situation you want to be upset about.
I know what won't happen and that would be us winning a championship during either of their current contracts.
