WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Thursday blocked President Donald Trump’s plan to push out federal employees by offering them financial incentives.
The ruling came hours before the midnight deadline for workers to apply for the deferred resignation program, which has been commonly described as a buyout.
US District Judge George O’Toole Jr. in Boston did not express an opinion on the legality of the program. He scheduled a hearing for Monday at 2 p.m. EST.

“Push out”??????? The program is completely voluntary.

Good deal. It was way too generous.
Just eliminate their position and quit paying them. They can have the stapler.
There's a rule I live by: When someone gets mad at you for helping them... quit helping them.
The blocking of this buyout qualifies. Hope Trump sees it the same way.

Yall have to understand there are procedures in law that need to be followed and Trump can't just say your all fired.
He can do that with specific employees, but not all.

He set a hearing.
That's fair, I guess. Hear both sides of the legal argument.

It's voluntary because the positions are being removed. So that means he can flat layoff without spending money now.

I'm not even talking about the legality of this offer.
In general, the president cannot fire all Federal employees in the executive agencies.
An RIF can be performed which has regulations and policy on how those are to be performed. But it does not unilaterally fire everyone.

Why should a judge get involved. ?
Would a judge get involved if all left for other jobs ?

So that's what is going to end uo happening, and the others? There are other ways to do it. They aren't on airtight contracts. If he wants to downsize the Govt workforce, it's going to get done. That was just the easiest way for both parties.

Don't think the left won't for down without a fight. I'm sure it was expected and I'm positive there were plans in place.
