I remember a quote from Chris Rock:

"If you're from an old ghetto, a new jail ain't that bad."

Maybe the threat of a central American prison would be a deterrent to criminals here.

Since the implementation of the Regime of Exception, nearly 85,000 gang members have been captured and detained in various facilities across the country. However, CECOT stands out as a facility where no visitors are allowed, no communication to the outside world is permitted, and inmates receive only two meals a day. With no access to amenities such as TV or phone calls, those who enter CECOT are likely to spend the rest of their lives within its walls.

President Nayib Bukele emphasized that the primary goal of CECOT is to prioritize the safety and security of innocent citizens over the comfort of criminals. Despite criticisms claiming that thousands have been imprisoned, Bukele asserted that millions have been freed from the grip of fear and violence. The rights and freedoms of law abiding citizens are fully respected, allowing them to live without fear and with a sense of security.

South American? Is El Salvador just like a halfway house? Then where do they go? Maybe I missed something.

That is a mega prison housing terrorists, mass murderers, and violent gang members... it's not a regular jail. This is a place you'd never want to be sent.

Deterrent? I'd be packing my crap right now. That place looks like absolute hell.

Like you never get out hell.

Works for me. Small counties where I live pay Wichita County all the time to house their misfits.

especially since it would save over them being housed in a US facility.

Transportation might be a consideration though.

Maybe we could upgrade to black dolphin?

The average price per day for a prisoner in the US was $116.91 in 2022

I'm sure it's pennies on the dollar in El Salvador
