Offense for the 2025 baseball season looking good

Jared Jones changes the dynamics of our offense and him coming back to school is big for our team. There is a misconception about Jones that he chases balls outside the zone. That was his freshman year, and he corrected that his sophomore year and actually had a veteran approach. According to a scout that was evaluating him before last year's draft, he needed to work on the swing and miss to elevate his draft stock. Let's hope he can improve on a really good sophomore season. I watched him in batting practice before the ULL game in the fall hit 5 over the wall in a row. During the game he put one over the scoreboard. He is also taking on more of a leadership role.
There are questions about who is going to protect Jones in the lineup and does this team have power besides Jones. Priester for one, absolutely has power. I witnessed 111 exit velocity in the fall. He also led everyone in the fall by a comfortable margin with 7 HRs. He hit for average in the fall and in JUCO. If he can hit for average in 2025, he needs to be in the lineup.
Jay mentioned Stanfield as a player that could really improve his offense this year. I believe he hit around .276. last year. He has been the hottest hitter after the first weekend in the spring.
Brown was our best hitter in fall and we will see if that carries over.
Milam has that small strike zone and if I'm correct his 8 HRs came at the end last year. He seems to have added weight and hopefully more power this year.
Arrambide has been hitting for average with power.
Frey seems to be back in form, after the shoulder injury last year.
Curiel, doesn't chase, barrels everything and makes you pay for mistakes according to Gavin Guidry.
Costello is third on the team in power according to Jay and Braswell noticed as well.
Reaves hit in JUCO and seems to be adjusting to the SEC as of late.
Josh Pearson is the guy you want in a pressure situation. He seems to be taking a more patient approach at the plate this year.
Braswell, Dickinson, Hernandez and Larson will all bring it this year.
Beck, John Pearson, Hogg and Yamin all have offensive potential as well.
There will be no break for the opposing pitchers. This team will hit 1 through 9. Players will be rotated in the OF, Catcher and DH and the hot hitters will play. Star players are great, but this team won't have to rely on one or two players to win the game for them. I believe this team will hit for a higher average, score more runs and eventually hit mor HR's than last year.

Depending on how the lineup does around Jones he could easily see his walks increase first part of the season with pitchers really pitching around him. If we can have guys like Curiel, Milam, Larson or Brown, etc. produce around Jones then his HR numbers should come in waves toward the mid part of the season/later part of the season.
I'm really curious to see how Jay tinkers with the lineup to start the year.

Don’t be shocked to seen Jones leadoff some games.

I would be, he lead the team in homeruns and strike outs last year with only 2 stolen bases. Typically you want those numbers batting behind your highest OBP guys. He has a great OBP as well but use his bat for RBI, not as a lead-off or following the bottom of the lineup.

You also put guys at leadoff to maximize the amount of times they step up to the plate, or to tone set for a specific game.

There’s no such thing as a typical leadoff anymore. It’s more about putting pressure on the opposing pitcher from the first AB. Any early stress pays dividends as the innings wear on.

Beloso at leadoff to start game 3 of the championship comes to mind.

My gut feeling through these first scrimmages is that Reaves finds a way to get significant at bats this year. It will be hard to crack the lineup in the infield, but he seems like a player.
Also, is Brown still just working as a position player this year or is he pitching as well?

I would almost like to see Milam follow Jones just to mess with the pitchers strike zone.
Milam, Curiel or Stanfield would all be good in the lead off spot.

He pitched in the fall some, but I don't think he pitched this past weekend. I could be wrong though, I just don't remember seeing his name. His role would only be a thing because we are a little shy on LH pitching.

Pretty sure Jay had Tanks lead off a few games last season as well. I believe that we will have a better overall offensive team this season with a good bit more guys who can move the offense and Jay will tinker with the lineup as necessary.
My personal opinion is that Curiel, should he continue to perform and progress, needs to be near the top of the batting order.

I think this year we will have more options when a hitter or two may be slumping. Last year we really didn't have much.

Curiel sounds like another Tre Morgan type of bat with less power. Love having guys like that in the lineup. Nothing more fun to watch than a guy who looks like he's so in control in the batter's box

Absolutely agree. No doubt about that. We have so many dudes that its gonna be hard to find enough innings for them all.

The thing I see when I watch him is he doesn't over swing aiming for the fences. He squares up everything and is as happy to single, double or even walk as he would be to homer.
Kid has a veteran like approach at the plate and is patient with his pitch selection.

He led off 3 times last year. Tommy White did 7 times
