Baseball Coaches Committee Tidbits

Just got back from committee meeting tonight.
It is confirmed that the colorful banners on the outfield wall are no longer. There will be solid white advertising similar to what it looks like behind home plate right now.
Also, the outfield wall is now taller. One of the coaches told me the wall was no longer 10' and that it is now between 11-12 feet. You can tell the height difference from field level IMO.
You won't see any HR balls brought back into the field of play. Aint nobody jumping up that high.

They will put the LF bleachers on cinder blocks and say the fans requested it.

Maybe if someone gave Damion Collins a glove he could get one. You’d have to get at least 1.5 feet “above the rim” though.

No color on the outfield wall and the wall is taller.
That’s the coaches committee updates?
Not gonna lie, I was excited to see the post and hoping for some real tidbits.
Not shooting the messenger, it was just some lack-luster info.
Can’t wait for the season to get started though

Wasn’t much else noteworthy imo. Maybe I already follow it so closely nothing was news to me.
Wild did mention Noot looked good today, as he hit 95 mph and went 3 innings.
Jay did say they had their best practice today. He wouldn’t say who was taking the mound in game 1. If I had to speculate I think it might be Anderson.

William Schmidt said that it's cold in the new bullpen, could use a heater. Also gave his high school strength coach credit for his being at LSU..
Maverick Rizy hasn't tried crawfish, yet.

Jay told the story of how he was ejected from the game last year. He said they called a balk on the Catcher which he didn't know was a rule. The ump didn't see it and only called it because a coach from the other team told him about it, which allowed a player to come home. Non-reviewable Jay told him that he wasn't having a good day and got ejected. Luckily Milam homered to win the game.
Jay also mentioned that he expects to make a big jump in his offense this season

after the play last year, I talked to a D1 umpire that works with us.
He said it is a balk because the ball has to cross the foul line or the plate to be considered a pitch. He said because the catcher received the ball before it crossed either of these it is a balk. He said you never see it. But said if the pitcher would have stepped off the rubber and thrown it the out at home would have been good.
he told me his number one is rule is the ball has to cross the plate to be considered a legal pitch.

How about NO FRICKING ADS on the outfield wall.
Put all the GD ads on the Digital Board and scroll them on and off during the game.........

Is there anything you won't bitch about

Thanks scuba and solo, those are some nice little tidbits!
I may follow it a little too close as well and appreciate the tidbits like the bulllpen feeling cold, and the expectation of being better offensively.
Thanks gents!

That's fine if you want to donate the money being lost by not having ads.
JJ mentioned at Coaches Committee that he likes the clean look too, but that money has never been more important than now.

JJ gave a lot of heart-felt information at Coaches Committee. He is very honest and gives long answers to all questions.
He had six new players there - Schmidt, Costello, Priester, Thompson, Rizy, and Ware. He talked about the recruiting path of each.
He talked to Schmidt daily and had almost lost hope because his draft stock was so high. He finally went over to the house for one last pow-wow. Schmidt told him he was coming to LSU and would have committed sooner if not for his mom.
Costello was committed to Pitt. Their coach moved and he opened up his recruiting. He visited LSU and Tennessee and chose us.
Priester got caught in the depth of LSU catchers the past few years. JJ asked him to go to a JC and come back. He mentioned that players commonly did that on Skip's advice in the past, but it is a rarity today.
Rizy is a bid dude. JJ has high expectations for him. He chose LSU over Vandy.
Ware was the standout pitcher in the fall. JJ said he had 11 or 12 K's in the four innings pitched against Samford and ULL. Also has high expectations.
JJ also talked about how appreciative the players are of the facilities and coaching they receive at LSU. Particularly those that have come in from other programs. Also, had high praise for the new strength coach. Players have physically changes (before and after pics taken) under his program.
On a side note, he indicated to me that a school or two put the screws to us and pulled off of our schedule. Thus, the weak non-conference slate.

I think the issue was the ump didn't see it and coach from the dugout made the call.

He's way more open to answering questions and talking baseball than Mainieri ever was. Probably because he's baseball 24/7
