Notice the change in Joe Buck's announcing over the years?

He used to do the real monotone like it's not important at all call....fast forward to 24:24 02 NFC Title
you don't even need a current example its very clear how different it is. was this forced on him or did he just prefer a change?

His dad is one of the biggest baseball announcers of all time and he was also mainly a baseball guy in those early years so it makes sense
That also used to be a pretty normal way to announce things. If you go back and listen to the 01 Super Bowl call, John Madden is getting excited the whole drive but Summarall doesn’t say much of anything and then when the FG was in it was just like “the patriots won the Super Bowl” very mater of factly.
The phenomenon of announcers reacting like they are a 50 year old fan of a team inside of a bar after seeing a play is a pretty modern concept.
this is also probably right after the whole Randy Moss mooning incident, which he went so far over the top I think he was careful to never really put that much of his own opinion into the calls for a long time after that

Also Jack Buck teamed with Hank Stram to broadcast Monday night football on radio. I used to mute the TV, watch the action, but list to Jack Buck and Hank Stram.

Yeah, I always wondered if people back in the ‘80s and ‘90s gave Summerall shite for being so monotone.
Buck was brought on MNF to add credibility to the broadcast, and that probably came with the requirement that he acts like he’s actually excited to be there. It also prob helps that he’s not calling both football and baseball year round and thus isn’t burnt out.

We noticed this the other day when breaking down some highlights for fantasy football. Rubbed me the wrong way for sure. Seems like an attention grab!

OP mightve accidentally stumbled into a fair point. Both Buck and Aikman sound more relaxed and energetic to me.
Maybe MNF is more fun for them than doing the "big" games on FOX. I imagine they have a little more variety in the teams and cities they get to see now, instead of covering NFC East teams every other week at 3:25.

Tony Romo needs to change his announcing so I don't need to mute my television set.

When the Internet is sucking off Gus, Tess, etc., of course Joe Buck sees it

Jack Buck's greatest line- "I don't believe what I just saw." '88 WS
Joe Buck's greatest line- “I was born in Florida, of course I’ve had a finger in my arse.” '17 Brockmire
