Donald Trump outlined an extraordinary plan for peace in the Middle East by moving more than one million people out of Gaza and into Jordan and Egypt.
'You're talking about a million and half people, and we just clean out that whole thing,' he told DailyMail.com aboard the presidential jet Air Force One on Saturday.
'It's literally a demolition site, almost everything is demolished and people are dying there so I'd rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing at a different location where they can maybe live in peace for a change.'
'I'd like Egypt to take people,' he said. 'And I'd like Jordan to take people.'
Trump said it might be a temporary fix or it could be longer term. But either way the plan will likely be hard to sell to Israel's Arab neighbors who are reluctant to take on more refugees, and hard to sell to the people of Gaza, who fear they would never be able to return.
For 1.5M people, if it costs $50k (just a wild guess) per person to relocate and provide housing, that would be $75B. There's no mention of how this would be paid for or by whom. Also no mention of plans or costs to rebuild Gaza.
Would this produce a lasting peace?

Jordan tried that already and it lead to disaster. They kicked them back out because of all the problems they caused. No one wants to take those people in and for good reason.

I say no for the following reasons, but Trump has a way of resetting the board.
The Gazans are not innocent and have supported Hamas for years. They believe Israel occupies lands to which they are entitled. Even if there was no land dispute, they generally want the eradication of Israelites and Jews everywhere.
I'm also not sure the other Arab nations would take the Gazans. I remember Egypt for example being a hard no on letting them in when Israel was bearing down on Gaza.

You could take Gaza and make it into a special economic zone and let his billionaire club develop it.
It could be turned into a jewel on the Mediterranean. A playground for wealthy Europeans and Arabs like Dubai.

Instead of Egypt, why not just settle them in sub-Saharan Africa. The virtue signaling world can then pitch in to provide them infrastructure for a settlement. Just pay off whatever dictator or warlord necessary to get them some land
