Critizing teams for the Rooney Rule

I don't understand this. If a rule is you have to interview a black candidate but a team such as the patriots know they want their man Vrabel. Everybody knows it's a good fit. But when a team such as the bears interview Eddie George they are insulted cause "they were never gonna hire him anyway" so how do you win in that situation?

“It gives them the exposure and familiarizes them with the interviewing process” is what they always say. It’s DEI

That’s fine, and I think it’s a good idea. However, don’t criticize the team as “never were going to hire him anyway” when they choose another candidate, especially when they are forced by rule to do the interview.
“We know you’re racist, but you didn’t hire the black candidate we made you interview. Now you’re even more racist.”

Seems like it cant be questioned, ask Mike McDaniel

The coach can use the fact that other teams are interested in him as leverage to ask for a higher salary.
A rumor I heard about the Cowboys coaching change was Jerry had second thoughts about not renewing McCarthy’s contract because the Bears wanted to interview him. I realize this isn’t a DEI situation but it shows a change in perceived value if someone is interested in your coach.

No, it’s a stupid fricking idea. It’s insulting to minorities.

Why?
I can’t imagine even considering someone’s skin color for an open job.

Where does someone hear rumors about a cowboys coaching search?

I don't understand this.
It's insulting to the people who don't want to be judged by the color of their skin. "I'm literally only in this room because I'm black. These people don't see any other quality about me other than my blackness."

If your ultimate goal is to hold a position, wouldn’t you like a little practice interviewing for said position?

Yes.
What does that have to do with creating a rule based on skin color?

Which is way more offensive to them

I get it, and I hate the idea of dictating things based on race. I don’t see the problem with interviews if they can’t, in any way, let it determine actual hires.

No one should be forced to pretend to interview people because they’re black.
It’s as insulting to blacks as it is to the teams.
If you’re a good coach, you get jobs in the NFL. Period. If you don’t, you don’t.

I’m pretty sure we’re on the same side here. If they’re truly insulted, they should decline the interview and explain why.

Come on....you don't think other teams don't realize what is up with the Rooney rule.
If a team wants a coach (white, black or anything in-between) they shouldn't have to waste all parties involved time.

Well since the existence of America, what skin color of people was given jobs even though they weren't qualified. Hell, you can just look at the present senate confirmations.

Imagine thinking something like that would be solved by some feel-good policy.
POTUS chooses his cabinet. It’s his government to run
But you seem like someone who thinks it’s modern Americans job to atone for things that happened decades or centuries ago, so I’m sure logic and pragmatism are lost on you.
