For all of the chicken little fans, the Washington Commanders were hoping to get Ben Johnson last year but he pulled out of the hiring process. Which the Commanders hired Dan Quinn.

My personal preference is Mike McCarthy, but if it’s Brady I’m ok with that. I do think things will work out, Loomis learned from his mistake. Mueller was not a fan of Allen as a coach.

Which mistakes has he learned from?
He didn't want to fire DA.

This is where I'm at also.

I think people don't like McCarthy because he's a known name, They want someone who's potential high reward even if virtually unknown as far as HC is concerned. Kind of swing for the fences even if you strike out.

I can tell you that's not going to be the mentality of a GM ( Any Gm not just Loomis) that reallllllyyy has to get this hire right.

I think McCarthy is the top choice and is more than capable of coaching this team through the "rebuild" that's not a rebuilt but is a rebuild.

I don't mind McCarthy, and he's a good coach. I just don't think he makes sense for a team that has to rebuild either now or soon. McCarthy is not a rebuild type of coach imo. Now is the time to take a risk on young up and coming coach

Also have to wonder how he would do with actual say in talent acquisition. It is not a secret that between the 2 Jones', they dictated what FA they brought in, the draft picks, players to resign...

Do not know how much say he had at GB, but my understanding is LaFleur is on a leash as far as who they will go after. So I would not expect that McCarthy had as much say in talent acquisition in GB as he will if given the Saints job.

And hows Belicheck without TB!!!! . All coaches are only as good as their
talent. Some like DA just aren`t leaders, some just stupid,Les Miles, but
he looked good when he had talent.DA was good the 1 st 2 games last season then the talent got hurt, but he was still limited.
Nobody knows how a 1 st time HC will do but its a heel of alot more
exciting than if he had kept DA.

I’m not pushing for McCarthy, but I disagree with this. I think McCarthy is a hard nosed coach that has some skins on the wall. He can instill some discipline and toughness, whereas a new guy might be questioned or might not even know what the fundamentals of a team are.

But let’s be honest. Fans won’t be happy either way.

I like McCarthy but it should give us pause that none of the other teams are talking with him or trying to interview. If no other team shows interest I think we need to pass.

Uh. I'm pretty sure the Bears asked to interview him when he was still HC of the cowboys and got turned down by Jones, they make sure they were the first to get an interview with him once he was no longer the cowboys coach.

Probably just insurance un case Johnson bailed on them but they were very interested.

I'm pretty sure I've heard his name mentioned with the Raiders and Jag's as well.

I think the argument is McCarthy is less likely to be accepting of a rebuild, which is what the Saints need, and may push for the FO to make "win now" personnel moves they can't afford...which is why we are here in the first place. The LAST thing the Saints need to be doing is trying to sign high priced FAs they can't afford and giving up draft picks to pay for "win-now" players. They need to bite the bullet and let some of the high priced older players roll off the books as much as possible and try to bring in several young players through the draft in hopes to rebuild over the next few years. A first time HC looking for an opportunity would likely be more amenable to that plan than a veteran HC who doesn't want to waste time losing while the personnel is rebuilt.

I can never get a straight answer when I ask Saints fans why they want Brady. They usually answer with 'I like what he does in Buffalo'.... but then can't defend him in Carolina..... if Saints fans want him because of the LSU connection just admit it.
