New Orleans teams just don't know how to tank and it sets us back years

It's absolutely infuriating to be stuck in mediocrity because leadership allows lame-duck GMs/Coaches to screw the future with meaningless wins.
The Saints screwed themselves at least 5 draft slots by going after pointless wins with Rizzi and now we seem to be doing the same thing with Willie.
Trade CJ, trade BI, shut down Herb for the year and just get fat frick in shape and chemistry with Trey and Murray. If we're winning in the 4th, take them out.
Only thing that should matter at this point is ping pong balls and chemistry among those guys.
The difference between pick 8 and pick 3 in the NBA is everything. I know the more losses doesn't guarantee the draft position but this is irresponsible.
These teams are so short sighted.

The Pelicans have lucked into drafting the last two "generational talents" the NBA had in the draft, and we've screwed up both. Getting that coveted number 1 means crap-all when it comes down to us.

So you'd rather not have another swing at Flagg or Harper?

Not saying I don't want them. I'm just saying people need to stop acting like it's the saving piece for this franchise.

Pray to somehow get Book or Lavine with the 5th or 6th pick and people.

What were our odds when we won AD? What were our odds when we won Zion? That is where your argument falls apart. We are going to be in the lottery, most likely in the top 7.
I completely agree that if Herb requires surgery he should be shut down and have his surgery asap. I don’t see the point of playing guys and then taking them out at the end of games. This group needs to learn to win. We are still going to lose enough games. They are going to still sit Zion every third game and sit guys like Yves for the last two. Openly tanking in January just isn’t necessary.

I mean, CJ has got to have some real value at this point. I'm hoping that we trade him and BI and move forward with a starting unit of:
Murray
Herb (assuming that he doesn't get surgery)
Trey
Zion
Yves
I really want to see that unit (with Jose and Hawk as top reserves) get a series of games starting together to see how good it can be.

New Orleans should be punished for Zion.
Anthony Davis did very well there, but the Pelicans have nearly ruined Zion with their coddling.
I think the NBA directed Wemby to San Antonio because there is no way they wanted his talent wasted in DC, NJ, or Charlotte. Probably cut a deal with Pop to stay 3-5 years and develop Wemby.

NO way I would allow CJ to take all the shots he is taking. Time to let our young developing players get more minutes and more shots. The losses will come fairly easy...when we start seeing more of Missi, Karlo etc...let those guys get about 10-12 shots per game EACH and the tank will be just fine.
By the way...if our current plan is to (hopefully) trade CJ fairly soon...and we are just trying to "showcase" him for a few games to possibly increase his trade value...I apologize. Showcasing, doesn't usually work but I guess it's worth a try. We've still got plenty of time to restart our tank...when/if we decide to get serious about it...EVERY PING-PONG BALL HELPS !!!

I've talked about this before but people are often defensive. The reality is there is no money in tanking-- tanking is only a strategy if you plan to go after championships soon after.
For someone like Gayle who doesn't actually give shite about the Pelicans, the question is "how do I make the most money from this" and the answer to that is to range from mediocre to almost good. If you're terrible, no one pays for season tickets so your revenue goes down. The cost to be amazing championship contenders is also too high.
So the sweet spot is right in the middle so fans keep hope and keep buying tickets and don't ever check all the way out but never spend enough to actually compete.

Argument does not fall apart. I don’t understand why people don’t get this. You want to have the best odds possible. If you have the worst record your worst pick is 5th. If you have the 7th worst record your worst pick is 11th. Nothing is guaranteed and people move up and down based on probability, but you of course want the best odds and highest ceiling and lowest floor of pick.

The issue is unless we bench CJ, Murray, Trey and Zion the rest of the year, we’re gonna win some games because we’re way more talented than any other bottom 5 team. Also the better CJ plays the better chance we can trade him. Best future for this team is a core of BI, Trey and Zion.

A lot of these tanking team coaches jobs are probably safe whereas Green is coaching retain his job. At the end of the day, there's probably no way Murray, CJ, Trey, and even Jose will agree to sit games. Yall arejust going to have to wist for two more weeks for the deadline to get here and that'll give everyone a clear picture of where we stand in the lottery in terms of potential win/losses.

If we’re giving up the 5th or 6th pick for Lavine I’ll personally go to airline and shite in Griffs office. They’re struggling to trade him for seconds

He’s actually not a bad fit. My personal issue is that we already have a CJ. So unless it’s Booker or Harper; CJ should not be traded.

I don’t mind giving them BI and filler for him. But his value is not worth a top 10 pick anymore
Booker is another story however. But you’re gonna be competing with teams like the rockets and Thunder who have a ton more assets than we do who would both love to have him. He just doesn’t feel realistic
