I think we got our measure of him when we saw his facial expression to drawing Clemson for the 2019 CFP

Hes a good coach. Was handed a rolls-royce of a program.

2019 13-1
2020 7-1
2021 11-2
2022 11-2
2023 11-2
2024 16-2 *Wins championship

But yeah this year it was all because of NIL.

I like the playoffs because I think really good teams needs to lose once or twice to reach their potential. Teams learn their identity through loses and the playoffs is obviously a more forgiving system. If there was still a 4 team playoff they wouldn't have even been in the playoffs, but yeah NIL..

When you have a $20,000,000 payroll behind you it’s kinda hard to not be good.

So did Larry Coker and Gene Chizik.

Day is better than those two. He might not be a great in-game manager, but he deserves credit for keeping his team prepared and motivated for the playoff run.

His job security was debated after the Michigan game, then his team beat the piss out of a good Tennessee team and #1 Oregon, who they had already lost to. Lesser coaches, particularly in the NIL/portal era, would've lost the locker room after Michigan IMO.

Most reasonable people could make it home if they were born on third base.

He was handed a Roll's-Royce of a program by Urban Meyer and was able to sustain it thanks to the transfer portal and NIL. However, many Ohio State fans were comparing him unfavorably to John Cooper prior to the expanded playoffs for failing to win the games that absolutely mattered. In the very recent past, that loss to Michigan would have killed Ohio State's chances at competing for a national championship. But because of the brand new format they were able to get hot and win it all despite losing two games.

Nope false.

OSU would have been in the 4 team playoff ahead of Texas and PSU.

Better wins resume and SOS with same# of losses. Pre 12 team that gets you in for sure
