The school board confirmed resource officers quickly took into custody the student who stabbed another student in the arm while school administrators secured the campus by following lockdown procedures, calling an ambulance, and alerting authorities.
Sources said a 15-year-old student used a large folding knife to stab another 15-year-old student in the shoulder as they were standing in line to go through a metal detector before entering the campus to start their school day.

If you send your kids to public school in an area with bad demographics, you don’t actually love them.

Is Livonia really considered bad demographics? Honest question I kinda figured it was country kids, that pulls from Krotz Springs to New Roads

Define bad demographics.

Need to make these kids pass a metal detector before getting in that line.

The public school system is borderline child abuse in majority of the districts in this country

Public schools in Pointe Coupee are garbage. They have a couple of marginally acceptable elementary schools, but Livonia has turned into a terrible High School. The campus is garbage, there are safety issues, and the test scores are horrific.
There is a STEM school that is pretty weak academically, but it's miles better than Livonia. STEM is basically for the white kids that can't afford private school tuition but don't want to get stabbed or shot at Livonia. It's not really performing as a true MAGNET school since you just need to have a pulse and not have behavioral issues to attend. But that's enough to turn Livonia into the last resort for parents. STEM is technically part of Livonia but it's campus is a 20 minute drive away.
There's also a small private school called False River Academy that's also in that parish. A lot of country kids go there because the public schools suck. Nothing special academically, but it's safe and the people who go there seem to like it. It's very small and has limited options, but it seems to gear itself pretty well for country kids.
There's also a 120+ year old Catholic school in New Roads that draws a lot of students from the area whose parents can afford tuition. It's mostly full of kids from New Roads and the False River area, but some are country folks from Livonia too. Catholic is the highest performing school in the parish but the tuition is also pretty expensive considering the area. It tends to get a lot of kids whose parents commute to Baton Rouge or run a local business.

It’s a form of child abuse IMO.

Well it looks like the STEM school is doing exactly what is expected of them.

I went to public school with majority black kids and did fine. My entire family went there. Grandfather, mom dad, aunts and uncles. Going there helped me see the world differently than the private school with all white kids. I also lived in mandeville early to mid 90s.

Don’t understand your downvotes. I completely agree.

Livonia is 82% White but the high school is 53% Black.

this ain't the early mid 90s northshore. It's not really a black white thing either it is more of thing of what ever kids have zero accountability at home thing regardless of color.
