Even if they can get short barrel rifles/ shotguns and suppressors removed it would be a huge win. I’m ok with full auto being regulated though I think we should be able to buy and register new production and not be limited to pre 1987 date of manufacture

that's not how this works

My guess is that this is too big a bite for Congress to swallow...
Maybe chipping away provision by provision as an alternative or even parallel effort...

That is my thought process as well. Use the gun grabber tactic of death by a thousand cuts. If you can get just some of it repealed it’s a step in the right direction.

Has the government ever willfully given up a revenue stream? Unless the bill still includes a $200 tax in the fine print and just eliminates the approval process, I’ll hold my breath.

they'd want to increase the stamp cost most definitely to account for inflation.
$200 in June of 1934 = $4,708.85 in November of 2024

As long as we only repeal and don't add I am fine. If we somehow get in a weird spot where auto is allowed, but tax stamps are like 2k for everything, I will be annoyed.

The revenue generated from every suppressor in the wild is something like $300 million. We spent that as I typed this post, but you're not wrong on your skepticism. Hopefully the amount will be mentioned.

I also want all the money I spent on stamps given back to me.

absolutely no way the government actually makes money on the stamp process.

Pre 1987 H&K transferable MP5 50,000.00
Repeal NFA
New production MP5 from H&K 49,999.99

I’m kind of surprised they haven’t tried to sneak a NFA tax increase in some other bill already. I mean a $200 tax was a big barrier for a lot of folks in the 1934, which was the intent.
