I have a pretty interesting back story and have been told more than once that I should write a book. I've thought about it quite a few times over the years, but have never actually put pen to paper. Even if it weren't published, I could see it being therapeutic and a better use of my time than sipping whiskey and watching Netflix. Any of you baws ever written anything of note or even seriously considered it?

I have been working on a book, it’s called “Somehow I manage”

Yes.
It would be too hard, but it would be good.
If people are telling you to do it, you probably should

I want to write a ‘how to drive’ book, but I just don’t think it’s possible to explain to women with anything less than a Bible sized book.

I am currently doing research for a book on the history of outhouses in south Louisiana.

You misspelled "people with Louisiana Driver's Licenses ", but I agree.

I've published four novels and two short stories since I retired in 2002. I'm currently working on a novel (about half finished) and another short story (running the idea around in my head).

Give it a try. You can always get someone to edit it and self-publishing is not that difficult these days.

One of my lifelong friends son just put out a trilogy. I cant imagine having to concentrate that much to write three volumes.

I’ve got a million dollar idea for you.

I wrote a kids book. Sent it to publishers and had one reach out and offer a hybrid contract. I turned it down and self published. The most expensive part for me was the illustration, but if you're not doing that, self publishing a book is pretty cheap.

First I should try reading a book

I wrote a pretty thought-provoking piece based loosely on The Wizard of Oz. You know the "Wicked" Witch of the West? Well, in my version, she's just a undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenic with delusions, hallucinations but very organized speech. I'm not finished with it, though.
