Why does this always happen in California vs other states? Can’t remember last time TX or LA had fires

Geography. Climate.
Santa Ana winds meet fire meets real estate.

Happens all over the West.
I dont wish this upon anyone, regardless of how they vote. Money aint everything, a home is more than an investment.

This has been happening in Cali since long before it was settled by Europeans. Lots of dry fuel, Santa Ana winds and the potential is always there.
I would like to see some honest, comprehensive reporting on what Cali has been doing to prevent and prepare for these fires. Are they using controlled burns and other sensible forestry practices? Are they devoting the resources to get right on these fires as soon as they start? My sense is that the answers to these questions are no, but I really don’t know.

The right conditions are present in California more than other states and the right conditions are allowed persists in populated areas by California politician who's job it is to mitigate wildfires in populated areas. Why? They want wildfires to cause misery and destruction so they can declare a state of emergency and get federal funding into corrupt politicians hands. It makes them a little more wealthy and a lot more powerful when they are doling out federal emergency funds.

There is all kinds of craziness in Cali.
Mudslides, earthquakes, forest fires, shark attacks. Boulders rolling off the hills to come crush you.
Hopefully they get this one contained quickly

Typical of the area but they do not do enough to mitigate. Trump was right about that the first time around.

It’s a natural part of the sequoia tree life cycle actually. It’s been happening for a long time. There are just human homes there now.

Brush maintenance has fallen by the wayside. They state is not following through on prescribed burns that would help prevent these.

Were you under a rock the summer of 2023?

Yeah I wonder why the wet lands in Louisiana aren't catching on fire annually

There are plenty of marsh fires every year but those are set purposely. Builds a stronger marsh starting in the spring.

Dry weather, high winds off the ocean, bad land management.
Feel bad for the people. Losing all your stuff is traumatic. Damn winds are too high to use aircraft they said.

bad land management.
This is the biggest issue. Enviro groups actually fight against controlled burns and proper land management so this is the result.
