Can I just go to the bakery and get a few?

I heard something about needing to get on a list?

Would like to go tomorrow... I have work in the cbd and can make a detour

There are about 15 places around the city that resell their king cakes. It may be easier than going out in the East. The list is on their website.

I thought most resellers sold out quickly or only get them on certain days.

I've gotten them at a grocery store in Nola several years back.

I say that in the context of the effect of acquiring them vs other very good KC.

the cake itself is average but the icing makes it superior. It’s not as sugary sweet and it has a taste almost like heavy cream. Far superior to most king cakes

You really have to order them now or buy from a reseller

There are a very limited number for daily walk up sale but it’s hit or miss and you better be in line early. I remember having to get there early years ago and get a ticket and wait. They’ve exploded in popularity since.

Pretty sure that's just margarine or shortening

I was as unimpressed with their restaurant as I am with their King Cakes. Their fresh bread is 10/10 and their bakery sweets are awesome. But their restaurant food is mediocre and their king cake overrated.

Safer than going out to the East, that’s for sure.

Yes I believe it’s a cream cheese based icing (which is a reason I really like them but many don’t)

There are dozens of KC makers out there that are way better than dong Phuong. They are not a good quality product. Sorry if that hurts feelings. But not anywhere in my top 25 in Louisiana. Another heart breaker while we are here….neither are either of the Randazzo family KC. They live off of a legacy name and making those that don’t know believe that’s what a good KC is…mass produced, cheap ingredients, poor construction, and making a killing $$$$ shipping around the country. They are just not a good repersentation of Louisiana KC anymore. Your local grocery store bakery prob makes a better KC.

I just checked their site. They ship nationwide via Goldbelly. All of the king cakes are sold out, but I clicked on one and it says the kit included their signature cream cheese icing, so it's definitely cream cheese.
