If I ever have kids - I am sure as hell keeping them away from drinking soda.

There’s no reason for why fixing teeth or gums should cost 10 grand.

Thanks president Biden!

I've drunk soda for decades and it has never had an adverse effect on my teeth.

That’s because you brush you teeth and floss regularly. OP probably doesn’t

My kids get two free cleanings per year through insurance. Paying a couple grand for my older kid to have braces. Its really not that bad.

Quit smoking meth and your teeth won't need $10k worth of work.

With proper hygiene and checkups, you are correct. When was the last time you visited your Dentist? My Dentist told me he loves the guys that come in once every 5 years or so because they are going to need some work for lack of proper care.

Getting implants for a missing tooth (with insurance) costs almost as much as a new set of tits on your girl

quote:

Average Cost: According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average surgeon's fee for breast augmentation with implants in the United States is around $4,875 for saline implants and $5,719 for silicone implants.

quote:

Average Cost: For a single dental implant, costs range from $3,000 to $5,800, which includes the implant itself, the abutment, and the crown. Therefore, the cost for two dental implants could range widely from about $6,000 to $11,600.

Isn't that CRAZY!?

I grew up gong to the dentist and ALWAYS had cavities that had to be filled when I went for regular visits. From childhood through college.

After college I pursued an endeavor for 8 years that, while rewarding, paid almost nothing. I had no health insurance and couldn't afford to go to the dentist.

About 2 1/2 years into this time period it occurred to me that I had not seen a dentist in all of that time, yet I had no problems. Then 2 1/2 years became 4, then 5, then 6. Still no issues.

By that time I was scared to go back. That was by far the longest I had ever been without any teeth needing intervention and I was scared that somehow something the dentist does is what caused me to have issues.

So I stopped even aspiring to go. I figured the previous six years were evidence that my teeth did much better without a dentist than they did with one.

I have now been to the dentist exactly one time since 1992. That was in 2000, when that period of my life changed and I could afford to go again. I did have a tooth that needed to be removed...but it was a baby tooth that never had a permanent tooth come up under it. The dentist was surprised that it had lasted as long as it lasted. And I knew it was decaying (that's why I went in the first place).

One visit in 33 years, and only that one baby tooth has had an issue.

Now, that said, I take great care of my teeth in terms of self care. Probably better than most people do.

But still...

Most of the variance in dental health is genetics. Yours probably just aren’t good but most people don’t the basics like floss daily and brush after meals. Also the electric brushes are better than the traditional ones. Spend $80 on an electric brushes and pay $150 twice a year for a teeth cleaning. Not that hard.

That's the low end for some of my fiancée's patients. $45k - $60k for full mouth rehabs.

Brush, floss, limit sodas.....or start saving up.

Think it’s pretty good imo, I pay $10 a year for 2 cleanings with X-rays once per year. I didn’t go the dentist for 15 years and had to have $2000 out of pocket work done for 2 root canals and 2 cavities. If I had dental insurance during that time using my current plan it would have cost me $150 out of pocket to get cavities filled from being detected earlier
