My Shred of Remaining Hope for Johnson

Speaker Mike by all appearances is a decent person and MAGA at heart but is almost certainly being blackmailed by the deep state. He's been absolutely horrendous as a Republican Speaker and does not deserve to remain, based on returns thus far.

BUT

My slim hope I'm clinging to is that with Kash and Ratcliffe coming in he may soon have the freedom to govern without the same fear of blackmail and will actually represent his constituents a wee bit.

NO ONE COME HERE AND CRUSH MY HOPES

He's only been speaker for @ 2.5 months, starting with a budget crisis and a month before the election. Your judgement is too quick.

But then I suspect you're just some kind of troll or bot.

ETA: Holy frick...

My position stands, he doesn't have much of a record, but more importantly, we needed a Speaker TODAY.

He's been Speaker since October of 2023.

Nope. All Speakers have to compromise. If it seems he was a lawn chair on that 1500 page bill it's because he's grown afraid of what the media will blame on him, for example old people starving in the streets if govt shutdown. They all become publicity whipped and fearful of public ire.

He’s been speaker without everybody in his party being with him. He’s been speaker without the Republicans having control of the Senate or the White House.

Give the man a shot with Trump as POTUS and Rep. controlling the Senate.

At this critical inflection point in US political history we can't be satisfied with simply having decent Republicans in positions of political power if they are not willing to go toe to toe fighting the enemies of the constitutional republic. I'm not sure Johnson is willing to do that as evidenced by his willingness to allow DC Uniparty Rs and House Dims to dictate policy the majority of Americans are 100% against.

It's sad bc the deep state had to send Bill Gates, John Roberts and Lindsey Graham to Epstein Island for some serious debauchery to control them. They had to stage an accident and blow up Governor Kemps future son in law to control him.

All they had to do to control Mike Johnson was tell him they'll notify his son that he looked at boobs on the internet one time in 2017. Pathetic

Right, I think re-electing him today was probably the best among any options we had. Just hoping he can grow a spine and do a little bit of leading during a Trump administration

Absolutely agreed. I can understand a Republican Speaker in Johnson's position not being able to push his agenda and get much done. What I can't overlook is how proactive he's been in embracing stances he was diametrically opposed to before becoming speaker. Hopefully after Jan 19 he'll revert at least a little to his old MAGA-adjacent self.

A lot of you guys just can’t come to grips with the fact that you have to have the ability to win, otherwise fighting makes it even worse. Politics is “the art of the possible”. And the Speaker of the House has to play that game; he can’t be a burn-it-all-down guy.

This is my main issue. He's not compromising. He literally changed the main pillars of his platform.

He is not "doing what is best to govern"

He is for spying now. He is for Ukraine funding now. These are his top priorities now.

I don’t get it, DJT was voted in by the American people for change, yet Mike Johnson isn’t change.
