First head to roll - Chief Kirkpatrick. Knew Bourbon Street wasn't properly secure, failed to make sure it was.

Embarrassed City of New Orleans and State of Louisiana with her arrogant performance and weak defense of her incompetence.

She was a DEI hire. Time to cut her loose and hire someone who can actually do the job, not someone who is given the job.

Didn’t the old fossil hit two people with her car in August? I know she was canned in California but as we know all the California rejects end up in New Orleans.

You think Teedy is going to fire someone that makes her look someone competent by comparison?

Can we get rid of Landry too? He's one of the most arrogant POSs I've ever seen.

This may be true. And yes, she has botched the media/PR aspects of this. But she hasn't been a terrible COP. In the scheme of incompetent NOLA leaders, she is way down the list.

Yep. Even New York knew to pull busses or dump trucks to block streets.

But "nobody does it like NOLA!" They know how to keep people safe!

Landry isn't a POS. He is an arrogant coonass, which explains some of his decisions.

BTW, I'm not slamming anyone who is a coonass, cajun, or any other term you choose to describe yourself with. But, if you understand coonass logic, then you'll understand my comment.

I'm not the Original Bayou Boy because I don't understand my people.

I think she’s done a very good job since she’s been here.

Someone hellbent on dying and causing terror like that is going to find a way. The local government can’t guarantee safety.

There’s nothing to point to that a 65 year old white woman was a DEI hire, and it’s lazy to call her one.

Look at her resume. It's lazy to fail to do so.

BTW, while you are doing research, why not find out which local company got the contract to replace the security bollards. See who owns those companies and look for names you recognize.

I'd be happy if they could just find a hat that fits her head.

The idiots had patrol cars as a barrier and left a gap big enough on the sidewalk to drive the pickup through.

If they would have had one more patrol car blocking, it would have prevented the truck from entering Bourbon St. and the crowd the nut was looking for.

Seems to me in our technological age, they could have retracting post that could be pulled out of the street and lowered when needed.

I’ve said this in other threads: It was never on anyone’s radar to protect the FQ from this kind of terror attack. In all my years in and around New Orleans, I can’t ever remember the sidewalks being blocked in the manner people are discussing. They just wanted to prevent cars from turning down Bourbon. Obviously that’s going to change.

I watched the NOLA press conference. I watched the Vegas press conference. As a married man with a house, wife, and kids, I would EASILY move to Vegas over NOLA and it's not even close. Never thought I'd say that.

You don’t even need retractable ones.

They make mobile ones that can be moved to areas that require additional layers of protection.

And they can be rented.

Google Meridian Rapid Defense Barriers for examples.

All true. But someone point me to a single time the city has ever employed such a barrier in or around the FQ.

While under the influence, if I remember correctly.

I have no idea. The city of Jacksonville bought some and deploy for large events.

San Diego does it. Las Vegas. Chicago, New York. Miami. Calgary. Seattle.

They all use them. And obviously many more.

What do they know that NOLA doesn’t?
