That was Teedy and Kirkpatrick. Landry deflected the question to them.

Who could possibly have anticipated a terrorist bent on destruction driving on to the sidewalk to get around the barrier???

He drove around a police car that was in the street sideways - blocking it.

Was it a barricade? No.

Was the police vehicle barricading the street, yes.

I mean, it was far from perfect, but it wasn’t unprotected (at least to a degree).

Seriously, how can you look at that set up and not think "yeah, but couldn't someone just drive around the barricade by driving on the sidewalk...there's not even a curb?"

You can't hermetically seal everything. Some of you act like Bourbon should be cordoned off with razor wire and guard towers.

It’s security footage. Most of us can see it at the top of the video.

Do you think barriers are meant to 100 percent prevent access?

It probably should be, though not because of this terrorist act.

But are we keeping things out or in?

Seriously, tho, the police car was to prevent drunks or random attackers, not a fully planned terrorist attack. Probably would have had more if the feds reported any chatter of a possible attack. Don’t think you can really blame the city here.

Anyone who has driven in NOLA in the last several years, can clearly comprehend that the city is greatly mismanaged.

Crazy high property taxes, roads that are truly undriveable, water bills in the thousands of dollars that can't be resolved, and the list goes on.

Unfortunately, a perfect target for someone who wants to do harm to people, especially with no regards for his own life.

That press conference was an embarrassing highlight reel of incompetence.

Not to mention the crosshairs that our federal government has placed all of us in.

So let me get this right. The barrier that was designed to stop someone driving down the street did not take into account someone could drive on the sidewalk?

Casual right turn, easy as could be, then accelerated.

Where were the bollards?
