Jesus this dude isn’t as smart as he thinks he is…I’m just not buying the genius vibe he likes to try to give off…doesn’t communicate well enough and seems to stumble while looking for the “perfect” word to finish his thoughts

He’s never been social. But he is a great defensive coach and I’ll die on that hill

I always said even when he was at LSU he's not HC material but he's a damn fine DC. It's no shame to say some people can't be HCs. It's not that they're bad there's a lot of skills you need. Aranda never struck me as the person who had the personality to be a HC.

I thought he came across as authentic and appropriately emotional.

Let him talk about something he loves to discuss without having to be politically correct, and he'll blow you away.

Aranda pretty tells you how bad of an OC Sloan is that we complain about on here. He flat out said it right here they telegraph what they do and everyone knows it.

He never had that quality of speaking to media. I don't think he enjoys it. He is a very good assistant coach. That is his comfort zone in recruiting players and designing scheme.

I mean it's glaringly obvious how bad it is at times. Sure we have some big games but there are so many head scratcher playcalls that seem elementary.

After Kelly's move to fire the whole defensive staff and not just House, it would surprise me if he doesn't make a change at OC. Probably won't fire Sloan but there will be some sort of change.

Yea, Sloan is a fricking joke. Without superior talent, we get blown out as proven throughout the season.

Time to cut bait with him.

Why is everyone calling out the OC, Sloan? Are they the basic fan that only thinks the game is played on offense? LSU finished 1st overall offense last year with him and Top 25 this year. Highly likely to be top 10 with Nuss and great WR transfers and current WRs.

It is the DC that is the problem. The game is played on both sides of the ball, not just offense.

I've seen 25 comments and 8 posts about replacing the OC when he is not the problem. It is the DC. Our defense is very bad.

Hint, he was not the OC last year, plus the QB was Hiesman talent.

Dude is a good QB coach, not a good OC.

Who was the OC last year?

I wasn't aware that Blake Baker was calling the offensive plays as well. Because you know...that's what we're complaining about with Sloan, right? HIS OFFENSIVE PLAYCALLING.

Aranda is a genius that is not a HC. He doesn’t thrive in being a HC. He is a hell of a schematic mind and needs to just focus on that…. However, going from a HC to a DC is too humbling to some and I’m not sure he would do it with vigor. I could see him being successful DC at any top college program and making a few million a year if he decides to.

If his ambition is HC, I see him flaming out in a small mid major in about 8-10 years.

Sometimes you just have to know what you’re best at.

I manage a very high end golf club in AZ. My lead instructor is incredible at what he does and makes solid money doing it… when he ventured into management and Director of Golf and GM roles he was a huge failure. He didn’t have the skill set to do it.

Sometimes you are blessed with a talent that makes you the best assistant or hybrid…. But not the boss. Nothing wrong with that

Maybe he comes across as “pensive” to you…I don’t doubt his passion for football and the amount of time he has poured into his craft, but he’s not some genius or even someone extremely intelligent….doesnt work on me, but happy that it works for you I guess

Most intelligent, high-thinkers are quiet people with low social skills. They don't enjoy small talk (they don't see the need or benefit of it) or being the center of attention.

See if he will come back to LSU as defensive coordinator. LSU gave up 31 points to this green and yellow team.
