Period. Trump woke up a lot of people to the issues and China suffered. They had to devalue their currency.

China is waiting patiently for the day that the dollar collapses. Like we waited for the pound sterling and the British Empire to collapse. They’re toying with us and hoping we’re foolish enough to defend Taiwan.

The truth is that WE BUILT THEIR WEALTH and our money went to making them skilled.

China is committing billions to automotive production facilities in Mexico. And, courtesy of provisions already baked in to the USMCA agreement (Trumps 1st term) , he can shut it all down with the stroke of a pen.
The US southern border will be controlled , or the Mexican and Chinese economies will be held to account.

When the person said “make our cheap shite,” I don’t think they necessarily meant iPhones and other tech goods we consume.
I took that as all the shite we needlessly buy from Amazon and Walmart that we throw away in a week/month.
These do NOT require the technical skill that Cook is referencing here and there are many countries much closer to us that would be willing (and able) to produce these.

Why would I care if the iPhone was made in China,India, or Russia. I wish it was made in America. Just like I wish we did not import any workers from foreign countries using H-1B Visas that are used by corporations to fire American Workers like GoldenNugget and replace them for half the salary with a H-1B Visa worker. While a Trump presidency is going to be amazing, this particular issue is more related to inflation in America caused by Biden and the war chests being opened for Ukraine.
People just don't have the money to spend to buy things anymore. After the Christmas season, we can expect this to be even more pronounced as people are struggling to pay the credit card debt they incurred by trying to act as if everything is normal.
