Recruiter contacted me a month ago for a job at a start up. Seemed interesting so I agreed to a call. I’ve had 6 interviews, and up until the last one had strong yes’s across the board

The last interview was with the founder. This 90 min interview lasted 3 hours. She grilled almost ever line item on my LinkedIn and evidently has more questions for me. I asked the recruiter what was going on, and she said that the founder looked at the notes from my prior interview and is concerned I said 2M in one example and 1M in another (plus maybe one other numerical difference)

I dislike my current job and company but I’m paid well. I have at minimum 500k in equity that unlocks over next 24 months. This company’s salary is about 40% higher than my base today but not enough to make up for the equity gap (though they’re pre IPO)

Should I just end the convo or see it through?

Run far away.

This is the most ridiculous interview process I've ever heard of, assuming you aren't trolling.

Sounds like somewhere you’d be micromanaged and over analyzed. Personally, I couldn’t handle being micromanaged. I’d turn it down.

If you didn’t dislike your current situation, would you?

I mean, you clearly see the red flags here. Six interviews, and the last one goes for three hours while they nitpick your LinkedIn profile? That’s kinda stupid and you know that.

I think the best way to evaluate any potential job if you already have one is to consider it in a vacuum. Would you take the job if you were good without it.

End it.

They aren't in love with you, and they are probably waiting to see if someone they are in love with signs on instead. If they get you they will try to work you to death and blame you for everything.

After your equity unlocks think about another startup.

I’m the only candidate that’s made it this far. They have a couple other candidates that are early in the funnel

Forgot to mention the CEO just connected with me on LinkedIn (not the person I spent 3 hours with)

Recently turned down about a 25 percent increase when it didnt feel right. I prioritze happiness in my life over a few dollars. I am living well and not worth risking that happiness for an increase in pay.

Go with instinct.

1. I think you're trolling.

2. Head football coaches don't even have to interview this much.

Simply tell them that you will be interested in 2 years, when your other payoff comes through. They will be just about through combing through you Myspace and TD accounts by then. Win/win.

end it

the fact you are asking indicates you already know that. Unless you just have unlimited time for job interviewing

I bet if they micromanage an interview process this much, the job itself will be micromanaged to heck.

Sounds like a DEI and fem-centered company. I would run and call them bitches on the way out the door.

You don’t want this job.

The micromanaging will be at a level that’s difficult to describe.

Politely exit the process and be glad you dodged this bullet.

My current job has flexibility but I’m basically abused and my career growth isn’t prioritized. It’s incredibly political. But I’m not managed at all and am trusted and paid well

I’ve had 6 interviews

Screening.

Round 1: talk with maybe 2 people
Round 2: talk with maybe 3 key people

That should do it IF they are serious.

6 interview rounds is just dumb.
