Do any of you guitar pickers own a Fender Blues Jr amp? I'm thinking about getting one after watching YouTube video reviews. Brand new $750 but I see a lot of them on Sweetwater and reverb etc. for a used price of around $350 to $500.

Fretshack will probably see this and respond. He'll give you the answer you need.

ETA Fretshack, not Fretshop

It's cheaply built and sounds like it. It's very "tinny" and doesn't sound like a traditional fender tube amp. If you can get one for about $200 it may be worth it depending on the sound you want but I'm not even paying $100 for one. An Orange Crush 20rt is a way better sounding amp for much less $$

Get a deluxe reverb instead. Portable and loud...

If I was sourcing an EL84-powered tube combo, I'd buy a Peavey Classic series amp on the used market. Rich cleans, Marshall-meets-Vox gain channel, lush reverb, loves pedals out front, available in a variety of sizes, wattages and speaker configs, they win on so many fronts.

Unsure where you are located, but this is in south Louisiana ...

Peavey Delta Blues, American made, 30 all tube watts, 2x10

Bought one for my dad. Used at guitar center website. Looked new. It plays awesome.

TheFretShack, I appreciate the suggestion. I'm in Denham Springs. I watched some video reviews and I'm sold, went on market place and found a dude over by the Lafayette area that has a Peavey Delta Blues 1X15 for $450. Seriously thinking of making that drive today. Although I've played guitar for many years I'm not well versed in amp configurations. Am I going to hear a lot of difference in a single 15" Blue Marvel such as in this amp and the one you suggested that has 2 tens?

The two vastly different speaker configs will surely make them sound different. Best thing to do is try and see if you like.

FretShack talked me into a peavey classic 30.

It sounds great. Is built like a tank. Better than Blues Jr IMO. Fender amps are great but you have to go up a couple tiers in their line up. Or be really patient and wait to find a used one just out of your price range.

He sent me in that direction as well. I'm sold on it. Which do you have? The 1X15 or 2X10s? I don't play professionally. I have played for a number of years. Man oh man if I could have my dads 60s Fender Twin he had when I was growing up. That's the tone I'm chasing, within reason.

I have a tweed Blues Jr. that I’m looking to sell if you decide to go that route. I bought it new in 2018 and probably have less than 50 hours on it.

I believe I have a 1x12.

I KNOW it’s one speaker. And 30 watts which is obnoxiously loud for my house. I need an attenuator.

Another vote for a Deluxe Reverb or even a Princeton Reverb. Neither the Blues Jr or Hot Rod Deluxe ever sounded good to me.

Get one. Great amp. I’d get used. Preferably 90s model earlier

Princeton reverbs are excellent. I have a 74 model. They’re very expensive in price now and you cert don’t want a new model. Anything 75 and earlier is better

I don’t really like fender amps. They sound much better in a mix to my ear than by themselves. Just thin and trebly, which can cut through a mix.

For a blues Jr, even pushing the thing all the way didn’t result in the sort of tube gain I want to get out of an amp. I have an ac 15, o really don’t love it but when the volume is all the way up, there is that unmistakeable chime that only a tube amp can provide. It’s inspiring in a way that I’ve never found a solid state amp to be.
