Would you rather have won the Natty in 2011, 2012 or 2023?

If you are given one year, would you rather have won the championship in 2011, 2012 or 2023? There are other years that we had great teams, but these are the 3 that always come to mind first.

1. 2011:
Winning against Alabama in a rematch would have changed our entire trajectory and landscape of the SEC.

Cons: I don't think we get 2019 and the greatest team of all time.

2. 2012:
If we hold on against Bama, I think we beat UGA in the SEC Championship again and crush Notre Dame. Would've avenged 1/9/12.

Cons: I also don't think we get the 2019 team. Just like 2011, there is a lot of interesting uncertainty as to what the program would have turned into had we won either of those years.

3. 2023:
If we field a slightly competent defense, they win it all in Kelly's second year, taking a significant amount of pressure off of him.

Cons: There are none

2011 and it’s not close for me. Losing to Alabama/Saban the way we did in New Orleans for all the marbles took a toll on me.

2011 because it means I didn’t have to sit through 1/9/12. Worst fan experience of my life.

2019 was really special bc we got to go back to the Dome where we got cursed and we exorcised those demons and had a more recent championship to relish. But of those options in hindsight, I’d actually chose 2023 because I would want to be more relevant today than 12 years ago. Florida’s last title in 2008 feels irrelevant now

2011 so the debates would be had as to which was better 2011 D or 2019 O.

2011 was one of, if not the best, LSU teams of all time except for that one fricking game.

2011 just because of who we beat

Pac 12 champ Oregon, won Rose Bowl
Big East champ WVU, won Orange Bowl
Arkansas, won Cotton Bowl
And of course Bama in Tuscaloosa in a game that was rendered moot

That LSU team deserved to be champs and I'll always be sick for how that season ended

2011 LSU even with the loss could be argued as the better season than Bama.

You noted all the conference champs we beat.

We also were 13-1

Bama was 12-1

The season series is still tied 1-1.

Still waiting on our home game rubber match to settle it all…..

2011 marked a sea change for both programs. LSU wins that one, and the 2010s might have been very different.

Easily 2011.

The schedule that team played would have been hard to argue against for one of the best ever.

2019 doesn’t happen if we win 2011. Give me 2023.

We very easily could have won it in each of those years.

No bullshite rematch in 2011 and we win in dominating fashion.
LSU National Champions of 2011

If just one or two drives go our way, we make it and win it.
LSU National Champions of 2012

If we had a decently average defense in 2023, we'd have won it then too.
LSU National Champions of 2023

We'd have National Championship flags flying over our stadium for:
1958
2003
2007
2011
2012
2019
2023

1908 too if our athletic department was competent.

What could have been and was so close to being!

2011. That team would be in the conversation of greatest college football team ever with the 2019 team and Miami!

2011 only because that would be on a short list for toughest schedule in the history of college football.
