Sad that hardly anyone sends Christmas cards anymore.

One of the many things I looked forward to during the Christmas season we're the greeting cards. Many were from distant relatives whose card might be the only thing you heard from them that year. We used to tape them up around the entrance way as a way of them symbolically being in our midst for the holiday. Now we receive fewer and fewer each year until this year none at all. I guess another tradition has gone by the wayside.

Yet... my mom used to get a ton of them.. she'd (as well as everyone else back then) would display them. Some years, she'd tape them all around the door leading into the den from the kitchen... and then when that ran out of room, they'd go on the mantle amongst the decorations and on any other flat surface.

I will tell you that respectable people still send Christmas cards to each other. I don't want to speculate why you are no longer receiving cards?

We used to bitch about and laugh about them on this board about 10 years ago.

Not to mention those family letters people would send out. They would be weird now:

Gotta send them to get them. Unless I really like you, you’re off the list if I don’t get one from you in consecutive years.

And the doorframe between kitchen and dining room currently has 30 or so up and about that many that need to be hung.

The only cards we don't get back are from elderly relatives or friends. They get a pass. When I get to their age, I'm not sure I will be sending cards out either.

I usually get a ton, and we have a cute little Christmas stocking garland thing I hang them from.

We only have 2 this year, and one is unsigned.

The old homeowner who died 3.5 years ago has received three already. I should just hang those up.
