A problem I wish Elon would address: professional trolls on X

It’s clear that there are many, many accounts on X now that have no other goal than to generate outrage replies.
Once some people reach a critical mass of followers, OR can get themselves in the “For You” feed for a significant number of users, they post ridiculous bait that is either a performative screed or easily debunked lies. The latter, especially, is all but guaranteed to generate a bunch of “nuh-uh” replies.
Doesn’t matter that the replies are 99% negative or refuting. Engagement is all that matters.
Then they get paid for the clicks.
It’s always been a problem, but now it seems fundamental to the business model, and it’s a cancer.
Once some people reach a critical mass of followers, OR can get themselves in the “For You” feed for a significant number of users, they post ridiculous bait that is either a performative screed or easily debunked lies. The latter, especially, is all but guaranteed to generate a bunch of “nuh-uh” replies.

One can’t have free speech and speech that is controlled for honesty at the same time.
You have to choose one or the other.

Just mute/block them?
No one is forced to engage with engagement bait posts. My muted/blocked list on X is long and growing all the time. It’s diverse too, I mute/block even people that I agree with if it appears they’re just posting shiny engagement hooks rather than actually engaging in discussion.

I do a lot of blocking and muting to keep that down to a dull roar. People are going to have to learn to recognize bots themselves. They need to recognize engagement farming and block it when someone does it. This thing is still in it's infancy and we're having to learn to adapt to it.
Honestly, considering our kids are going to have the entirety of human knowledge at their fingertips, and eventually thought, we really need to be changing our entire education model to deal with how to best utilize all of this new stuff. Because you can't moderate to the lowest common denominator. That's how you end up with garbage.
