I think would be first priority being that they are already in the LSU system already. Is CBK not offering the current LSU players the same NIL money given to the players he signed out of the transfer portal we have signed? Current players just do not want to be at LSU and CBK moves on like he should. We are kicking a$$ at the moment, #1 and still looking for more players.

Why wouldn't he be? For those who deserve it?

Who is he not retaining that you think should stay? The guys leaving will be drafted pretty high. The portal guys are either not playing much or are looking for a big payday

There aren’t many players that have entered the portal worth paying to stay.

If you assume they were already getting paid, do any of them deserve a raise?

Sampson? Pimpton? Daniels?
Womack maybe but I’m fine with Ole Miss overpaying for him

Pimpton is the only one that I was upset about. And he’s not officially gone just yet

I think we can assume most of our key players are being taken care of. I'd say 8/10 times the players who hit the portal are the players we've decided not to "invest" in.

Daniels and Pimpton have been the only portal entries we've had that I would say could hurt us. With our WR haul, looking like it might not matter on Daniels. As for Pimpton, just that entire room is a mess with him leaving, and we are heavily reliant on the portal and a true freshman to fill the needs there at this point...and I'm not a big believer in Sharp personally as the grades on him were pretty poor this season (receiving and blocking). In other words I dont know that Sharp is any upgrade over what Pimpton could be.

The only other name I'd mention is Womack as he has all the talent in the world just was not very coachable and didnt get on the field much as a result. He could blow up at Ole Miss (one way or the other).

The rest were simply guys that dont play or we've been complaining about for years (Ryan, for example).

what if those players you say should be retained are underperforming and a bust? Should LSU keep them? The transfer potral works both ways

I am concerned about that also but Kelly and LSU can join the club of ALL major schools in college football other than maybe Clemson. You have to wonder how the locker rooms are when a guy who doesn't have the big pay for play paychecks sees a newbie taking the locker next to him...knowing that he has a big check. Just another reason NIL/aka pay for play is bad for college football. It isn't remotely fair to the fans, the vast majority of players, and to trying to keep college football reasonably competitive.

I'm not sure how we keep Zavion Thomas. Brown coming in from Kentucky will probably be the PR and KR. The only reason I think he won't be is to avoid injury because the staff values him too much at WR.

He is the #222 player in the portal and #10 TE. We picked up the # 6 TE/#125 player out of the portal.

I know Pimpton has a ton of potential and probably goes up with more playing time but his blocking was atrocious.

These literally mean nothing. Pimpton hasnt played much, Sharp had to be the guy by default at OU this year because all their scholarship WRs were hurt.

Sharp's blocking was below average this year too. It's kind of why i dont understand the pickup. He really wasnt good in the receiving end nor blocking this season playing up a level.

Comparing rankings is questionable at best...especially a veteran vs a younger player. There also seems to be debate whether the OU TE is a good blocker or not. Pimpton didn't play enough to judge either way. Someone brought up a badly missed block in the USC game. If individual missed blocks are an issue then I guess Will Campbell was incompetent in the OU game. IMO, Pimpton is probably a bigger loss than Sharp is a gain. Having said that, I would take Sharp in a second under the circumstances.

Outside of CJ, Daniel’s and Pimpton, who are you sad to see in the portal? Maybe Womack?

LSU has not lost material talent off the current roster.

They better not even be giving Gilbert a Starbucks gift card!

alot of people dont seem to understand that when it comes to Daniels....we offered a two year deal last year that made him the 3rd highest player on the team...after the lack of production he had we said we were not going to pay the same amount this year. he left because of it

its hard to wrap your mind around as a CFB fan but its the new age of the way things are unfortunately.

So we reneg'd on the 2 year deal? Seems pretty bad on our end.

Seems weird to not do more to keep Daniels if thats the case. He was hurt all season, then got another injury mid-year and certainly showed a lot consistency despite that. Think he could be a really good one wherever he ends up, he certainly was a year ago.

how is it bad? its a pay for play now....if you dont keep up your end, no matter if its injuries or what...we gonna use that money to go get people that will produce.

sorry this aint the cfb we are used to....we have no room for the 3rd highest paid player to be our 3rd best receiver and have zero TDs. sorry....we have an overall salary cap and we can use that money else where or to bring in more talented players

i hate this crap but it is what it is.
