It looks like we have brought Van Burden in to not sit on the bench, but actually play this coming season. I expect these 3 dynamics out of him.

1: Packages in the offense to do more with our weapons. Defenses have to account. We have some of the fastest guys in the nation this year. No way BK/sloan can afford to play basic ball again.

2: obviously insurance policy if Nuss goes down.

3: If Nuss is having an off game or we need a change of energy , we have someone to come in for him. We are not in the playoffs because he didn’t use his legs in the USC, Florida, and A&M games.

I really like the pick up.

I seriously doubt you see him play much outside of a Nuss injury.

I like what you are thinking, but I’ll have to see it to believe it.

How does he help accomplish this?

I don’t think this is true, and even if it is, I’m not sure that he solves that.

I think you’re wrong. Our biggest offensive weakness this year was red zone offense. Van Buren will have RZ packages for him. Puts the D at a disadvantage having to switch defense mindset in the middle of a series.

Why would we have RZ packages for him? Do you think he has a different skill set than Nussmeier? Are you under the impression Van Buren is a dual threat QB? He had -12 yds rushing this season.

I’ll bet you he barely plays at all unless Nuss gets hurt.

Sounds like typical tiger droppings wish casting. You’re talking about Brian Kelly here, he’s not going to have a “special package” quarterback. This hypothesis is completely ridiculous.

Was Van Buren elite in the red zone last year or something?

Typical tiger rant poster. Sees black quarterback and assumes he’s dual threat.

This.

Van Buren is basically a lower ranked, less polished version of Nuss.

That's exactly what we brought him here to do. His time is 2026.

Les once said if you have a Ferrari you dont tinker with the engine…

I really expect him to be the 26-27 guy. Bring in one of the 27 stud QBs and prep em up for 28-29.

agreed
Still waiting for a few more different plays anywhere on the field.
VB will run the same plays Nuss runs. Nothing changes with BK's offense.
We should all be aware of that by now.

Not sure what the Kelly comment was about, he's had packages for running quarterbacks a good bit throughout his career, including his last year at Notre Dame.

If he’s the same type of QB as nuss I’m good with that but why is everyone jumping for joy? He’s not gonna turn out like j Daniels apparently
