Forget about choosing the 12 best teams. That's so dumb. Why would anyone ever do that? Why would anyone ever sacrifice inclusiveness and equity for the sake of quality? Shame on that concept.
Well, that's what the nation wanted. Getting their feelings hurt by Bama and other more deserving teams in place for "let's give everyone a chance despite we know they would be a 13 pt underdog to Bama or Ole Miss" because I can't stand to see Bama win again. Hell, SMU would be an underdog to practically half probably over half of the SEC. That includes LSU. I think they are a dog to LSU. But OP, what about the time Bama was a big favorite to Vandy or OU only to lose. Yeah and what about the time they were a 2.5 pt favorite over LSU to only win by 29 and go 7-5 ATS this year.
Vegas has marble floors, beautiful waterfalls, free drinks for a reason, and it's not because they are losing money. I vote that public betting set the Top 12 teams. What Vegas lines are amongst Top 25 teams are vs each other. Choose the 12 best teams.
Vegas and money markets have proven time and time again that they are by far the most accurate measure. Take for instance, every betting market favored Trump on November 4th, but every polling source said it was dead tied. Well it wasn't. The money market was right. And you know why? Money talks, BS walks. Every polling service has their own bias (and most polling services are Democrat like the rest of the media). Just like every ESPN, Barstool Sports, anyone in sports media has their own bias. And it's very often not about reason. It's often recency bias. Not understanding the gravity of a win 8 weeks ago over Georgia is better than a win over Rutgers or Purdue. The bias of not liking the team that's the big dawg and wanting the Cinderella to win. But you know what the beauty of money is? You really figure out what someone thinks. You cut through all the BS.
Vegas money lines are the most accurate way to show who the best 12 teams are in college football. Let that decide the playoff.

they should just fold the rest of college football and have the sec play
Posted on 12/14/24 at 8:00 am to Saunson69
We should just let the sec in the playoffs. Everyone else should shut down their programs

I think if they carried out this, it would be 8 SEC teams and 3 Big 10 teams and Notre Dame in the playoffs most years. Maybe 1 wild card who doesn't fit this.

How about no.

I think they should let recruiting rankings decide who makes the playoffs.

I'm not sure if OP is tongue in cheek if you look at his second post.
I'm not complaining about Boise St. and Arizona St. with byes. The optics of a situation like four SEC teams seeded 1-4 is awful.

This is the dumbest fricking shite I’ve ever read which means you should probably go post this on the Poli Board where it belongs.

Dale Earnhardt Incorporated?

If you think Vegas odds should decide anything, you should stop watching sports. Bama was a 3 TD favorite vs Vandy and Oklahoma and got shite on. They should have performed better on the field. They are not more deserving than SMU

No playoff system works like this… it’s not what you think a team deserves it’s what a team earns.,., I’ve been suggesting all FBS conference champs and 3 at-large bids makes more sense than the current format… if you cant win your conference nothing should be guaranteed

Money talks and bullshite walks. Always been that way.

Lots of folks here don't understand the difference between probability and possibility. Vegas doesn't operate on possibility.
