Don’t know all the facts but from what I gather he caught a share lunker and submitted it for a cash reward. Like $5,000. Had to add his fishing license which he found out expired and renewed it. State found out and arrested him and got a citation for the expired license. Sucks for him, but honestly don’t think this will blow up.

I’m not a big fan of his but since when are they arresting people for an expired license?

Yeah I mean even if money is involved how is that a crime? Why can’t lunkers just say nah man you don’t qualify because your license was expired. Doesn’t seem like a huge deal to me

I'm glad that we live in a country safe and crime free enough that the only people who need to be arrested are fishermen

Game and fish violations are considered arrest even though you get the ticket.
Had to report mine on job apps until it had been so many years past

Because he likely committed fraud in claiming he caught the fish legally to claim the prize.

I’m not sure which I hate more:

1. Paying rent to the state in the form of property taxes

Or

2. Paying the state to license my God given right to hunt and fish back to me

How have we allowed this to happen?

Not the license issue, but cheating in a fishing tournament is considered a felony in LA (from what I was told) which is fine and dandy with me, but then so should cheating be a felony in MLB (astros) NFL (inflategate) NASCAR (every freaking race) etc etc, why do the pros just get a fine or professional sanction , but amatures get felonies?????

This is when you know the liberals of Austin have taken over TPWD. The decision was made there.

Pretty sure they're counting this the same as if you're found cheating in a fishing tournament since money is involved. They're treating it as fraud against the state

I read somewhere his license expired like 6 months ago, he has been fishing a lot in Texas over the last 6 months, all illegally (allegedly). If you turn in a fish that could win you 5k and you claim you followed all the rules of the tournament and the first rule is following all state laws, we'll that could be an issue.

Yeah but you can steal whatever you want from cvs and won’t get arrested but fish without a license and get arrested.

Give him a ticket and get a life Texas authorities
