It Seems a Bit Reaching When Hegseth's Supporters Point the Focus on His Military Career

Tiffany Brannon writes that Hegeth has a "tough, military background." I'll be the first to say his decision to serve is honorable. Just like the thousands of civilians who volunteered to serve in the Reserves during GWOT. But to classify him as a "military man" is disingenuous considering his actual career trajectory.
He served part-time in the national guard, retiring as a major. He never held command and was never in charge of anything larger than a platoon. Although he was an Infantry Officer, he never graduated from Ranger school, which I understand is rare in the company grades and almost unseen in the field grades.
I don't buy it - It just seems strange to me that this is the candidate Trump is choosing to lead the DOD and its personnel, when there are so many other career military officers that would be better suited because they have the requisite experience on active duty.
Could Hegseth make up his lack of genuine military experience through managing a business, or other governmental agency? Yes. But he hasn't. He worked primarily in television. Couple this with his extreme stances and criminal allegations and he's not the right choice.
This is why it seems, to me, that his support is based on identity politics and not his qualifications to manage a department with the size and budget of the DOD.
DeSantis would be a much better choice, who could implement similar reforms without all of the baggage.

Hegseth is far more qualified than the stolen valor POS the dens put forward as vice president.

Have I mischaracterized anything about his career?

probably should list your military credentials that make you worthy to criticize Hegseth.
I attended ROTC for 2 semesters and feel qualified to comment

The number of people who give a shite what you think could be counted on less than one hand.

Ugh, no thanks. Time for new perspective from a military man that is not tainted by DEI woke BS philosophy

We like that he is not a general.
I copied a quote from Mike Waltz, a former colonel and green beret and Trump’s incoming National Security Advisor…
“I talk to a lot of people, I have a lot of contacts with the Pentagon and the military. The soldiers love Pete Hegseth, they see him as one of them who will look out for them. The generals hate him. The military industrial complex hates him, they see him as a threat. There is so much graft that goes on. And I’m not just talking about the big defense companies and their contracts. I’m talking about thousands of companies. I’ve held up bags of bolts that were purchased for $90K a bag. I’ve seen toilets that cost $70K a toilet. And it’s endless. I’ve pointed this out in our hearings. Pete Hegseth has said he will target graft and corruption. That’s what this opposition is all about.”
This was on Fox & Friends First about a week ago. I had been meaning to make a thread with it but never got around to doing so. It seems appropriate here.

He wants warriors based on merit and good sense not the DEI social experiments that have been pushed over the last four years.

It is more odd that you capitalize the way you do.

You dumb idiot.

Here, follow up…
Hegseth is a threat to this massive graft.
I tend to believe Waltz, who is a bit too Neocon for my liking, so I have no inclination to push him.

Yes. Saying what he has done was not genuine service is patronizing and incorrect. Makes you look like a fricking moron.
