Where would you rank The Two Towers opening scene all time for opening scenes?

Rewind the clocks back to December 17, 2002. 12 year old Frac has been waiting in line for 2 hours for the midnight showing.
I was captivated by the Fellowship, it lead me to read the books. I finished the trilogy maybe by February of 02.
So I knew Gandalf’s fate. But what I wasn’t expecting was to watch Gandalf follow Durin’s Bane down into the depths of Khazad Dum with the skill that Jackson took us down.
Mouth was open, awe struck. Still 22 years later it holds up. What an opening scene. Then they get to that subterranean lake and the score kicks up with the choir. Unbelievable.
Where does that scene fall for opening scenes for you? It’s too 3 easy for me.
Saving private Ryan might be 1 and always will be, but it might be 2. Just amazing

Honestly out of the three films, I’d put it in the bottom below the Prologue and Sméagol killing Deagol.
That said still badass and a hell of a start.

Man, I just love the opening scene of Apocalypse Now.
Jungles of Vietnam while the Doors are playing...a couple of helicopters fly by...jungle is bombed with napalm while the music gets more intense.
Then you see an overhead ceiling fan ceiling fan, while the first words are spoken -"Saigon, shite..."

My family does as well, but for some reason we always watch it on cable. With the commercials each movie is legit like 5 hours lol, but we still watch it that way every year
Traditions are so weird

I think Two Towers is my favorite of the 3 movies
I don’t even recall the opening scene as very memorable. So it’s very low amongst movie opening scenes when considering all movies of alltime. You’re not even fricking close.
Edit:
Two Towers is my favorite battle scene for sure at Helm’s Deep
But Fellowship is severely underrated. It’s actually my favorite full movie of the Trilogy

When I was younger It was TT > RoTK > Fellowship for me. Now I think Fellowship might be my top. Younger me loved all the battle scenes most of all. But everything about Fellowship was so well done. They really transported you into Middle Earth, made you quickly invest in these characters, and captured the tension of the task they were undertaking really well.

Isn't saving Private Ryan old Matt Damon and his bored kids at the cemetery? TT is an awesome opening scene and would be my favorite as i really remember watching it in the theater. Goodfellas was great too: what's that noise?

Yes I believe that is actually the opening scene then immediately jumps into storming Omaha beach. The beach storming scene is one of the most powerful and shocking things I’ve seen on the big screen. Phenomenal movie

If i can only pick one it has to be Inglorious Bastards. 5 minutes in and you have one of the most intense/nerve racking scenes in movie history. Pretty incredible to pull that off the way he did.

Two Towers is the best of the trilogy by far IMO. And LotR is the best trilogy of all time IMO as well. My cousins and I went to Tinseltown in BR when the third one came out and we did the $25 thing where they played the first two extended version movies and then the new release of RotK. It was fricking awesome.

My family started a new tradition last year of watching the extended versions between Christmas and New Years during holiday down time. It was incredible and they wanted to make it a tradition. I am looking forward to it.

Those of you with kids, how old were they when you let them watch LotR?
I have a son who wants to watch them, but he's only five. While I think most of the movies would be fine, there are obviously a few parts that I think would be too intense for him (orcs, some of the fights/battling, etc.).
I've told him we can watch it when he's a bit older, so I was just curious as to when y'all let your kids watch them.

Pretty early with mine. Probably 9 or 10 for most of them. My son who is now 19 was absolutely terrified of Gollum when he first watched it.

I let them in that world around 9. There eyes got big on the ogres and sometimes the dialogue scenes bore them but overall they love the world.

I don’t even know where to begin you’ve made so many contradictions.
If TTT was your favorite how do you not remember the opening at all?
