I like it. Might as well try and make a big splash and see what happens.

They will definitely have a much better defense

He's basically trying to get his son a coaching role before he retires

Why would he want to coach in college at 72? The only reason anyone thought he would want to coach another NFL team is to chase Shula's win record.

The mediocre son is a classic fixture in coaching.

I just don't see how this works out. Like late 00s or 2010s sure, but old man Belichick dealing with entitled brats is going to be hilarious, and I have doubts it works.

Nobody loves blatant nepotism quite like college football

Let me guess, they are about to pay him a frickload of money with a sizeable buyout, all while Bill Belichik has NEVER performed arguably the most important role of a college head coach.

Who are they bidding against??

I’m sure he’s ready to hit the recruiting trail.

I hate this. Simply because I wanted to see bill get the all time wins record in the NFL

I see this playing out like Charlie Weis at various schools…

Capable of coaching upperclassmen who are finished products, completely incapable of turning incoming freshmen into seasoned players.

I don't either. I'm just not sure how he will handle the boosters, transfer portal and NIL for entitled college players. At least in the NFL, they have contracts and cannot just leave each year. It will be interesting how he handles, recruiting and the wild west.

Brady, Edleman and Gronk were asked on one of the sports shows last week if they could see Bill coaching in college. They all laughed and said "no".

I think he is just doing this out of boredom, or to have easier access to score with sorority girls. Otherwise, he's not going to do very well, for very long, in a situation where the players have most of the leverage.

It will be interesting to see what this will cost UNC. Some want to compare this to the Deion hire in the sense it was a PR splash by a program who hasn't had a ton of football success recently. They aren't comparable. Deion was a relatively low financial risk for CU. His contract his low and reasonable (relatively speaking) 5 years, $30M. If it didn't work out, it wasn't that onerous to walk away from. If UNC is going to agree to a big contact with Bill this could be a mess which won't produce a positive ROI.

I guess maybe they are figuring that if he can get them into the CFP in 1-3 years it might be worth it.
