Assad's Sect of Islam (Alawhism)

While I have known forever that the Assad's are part of the Alawhite sect of Islam, I had always written that faith off as a derivative of Shiite Islam.
After doing some further research today, it seems like it is actually a separate religion that equally pulls from Phoenician Mysticism, Islam, and Christianity.
As if I didn't need any further reason to support Assad- he must be protected at all costs.
Key similarities to Christianity:
Veneration of Jesus: Alawites, like other Muslims, regard Jesus (Isa) as a revered prophet, but their belief in his divinity aligns more closely with Christian views. Alawites often emphasize Jesus' spiritual significance.
Trinitarian-Like Belief: Alawite theology includes a triadic concept of divinity (referred to as the "Essence, Name, and Gate"), which some interpret as loosely paralleling the Christian Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Sacraments and Rituals: Alawites observe rituals that resemble Christian practices, such as wine-drinking in religious ceremonies, symbolizing a spiritual connection, akin to the Christian Eucharist.
Celebration of Christian Holidays: Alawites observe some Christian holidays, including Christmas and Epiphany, reflecting their integration of Christian traditions into their faith.
Emphasis on Mysticism: Both Alawite Islam and Christianity have mystical traditions. Alawite teachings are esoteric, focusing on the inner meanings of religious texts, which resonates with Christian mysticism.
Respect for Mary: Similar to mainstream Islam, Alawites highly revere Mary (Maryam), viewing her as a pure and holy figure, a connection they share with Christianity.
While these similarities exist, it's important to note that Alawite beliefs are distinct from mainstream Islam and Christianity, blending influences from various traditions, including Gnosticism and Neoplatonism.

All I need to know is he lets Christians live in peace, unlike the Islamist rebel filth. So he’s okay in my books

He truly loves the Christians.

He’s certainly better for them than isis

He has let Hezbollah and Iran operate with impunity from within Syria and you want to protect him……

The Israelis are hostile to Christians, and exploit us for their own benefit.

Too bad he is a dictator.

Can you believe this evil dictator lets his wife go out in public without being covered up?

Syria is such a quagmire of global politics I have no idea whom to pull for. If Assad falls, what is the most likely regime to replace him and will it be strong enough to finally quell the chaos there?

He went FULL retard.
Never go full retard.
I miss the days when people knew stuff from more that 17 minutes reading Wiki and could entertain competing thoughts in their head and said things like “ a pox on both their houses” and so forth…

I’ll be honest, I don’t know shite about Assad or Syria. What I do know is the US has gotten us into regime changes all over the world for the last half century with zero reason outside of money and power. My assumption is this is much of the same.

All Islam is the same. They hate Christian and Jews. They all worship the same pedophile and abhors Jesus.

Assad is shite. A puppet of Russia/ Iran and Hezbollah. A mass murderer. A terrorist. That he’s marginally more appealing than Isis or any other group besieging Syria is not an endorsement and certainly not “ we must do everything we can to support him”. Just no.
Let them fight.
Let them fight.
